Sri Lanka to mark 68th Independence Day at Galle Face Green

Sri Lanka has made all arrangements to hold Sri Lanka's 68th Independence Day celebrations in two segments under the theme “Ekama Deyak, Maha Balayak”.at the Galle Face Green in Colombo.

Minister of Mass Media Gayantha Karunathileke speaking at a special media briefing held Wednesday (27) said the main ceremony including tri forces guard of honour and procession will be held on 4th morning under the patronage of President maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.

The function in the evening including traditional and cultural shows will be held at 7 pm at the Galle Face Green under the theme “Nidahase Hada Gasma” with the participation of President and Prime Minister, Minister Karunathilake added.



All households and institutions have been requested to hoist the national flag throughout the week.

Minister of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake speaking at the briefing said that special transport facilities have been arranged at the venue for the public to move out of Colombo after the event.

Minister Karunathileke speaking at a special media briefing this afternoon added a National Independence Week will commence on the 1st of February.
