I’m back in my almost refurbished workshop in Agenskalns, thanks to my partner Ivars Kalvāns for hard work. Still in the process of getting everything organised, but clients keep asking for visits, as the material - washable paper is something you need to touch & feel - so now you are warmly welcome. DM for visits (but please in working hours)🤍 I’ve been extremely busy with custom orders and regular Etsy orders coming in constantly. My to-do list seems to always have 7–10 orders in the queue! I’m working a lot, fast and intense — and I honestly don’t mind, because it’s something I truly love to do. ☺️ There have been some exciting new collaborations too, like working with Deep Deep Light deepdeeplight — the wonderful watercolour creators. 🎨 And some special projects, including giant lampshades for an interior design studio in the US. And then there are the fulfilling everyday moments: packing and sending Etsy orders, and knowing that my handmade pieces are travelling to new homes around the world. So, it has been a very busy autumn days here at Warm Grey Co. — but a good ones. 🍂

My dream adventure of having my own physical shop and open studio has come to an end — but what an enriching experience it has been. 😇

I didn’t close it because of a lack of customers. Quite the opposite! I had so many visitors and customers that I was constantly making purses and bags to restock the shelves. It has been the most intensive summer I have ever had. 😅

But as a solo entrepreneur, the biggest challenge was the lack of free time and family time.

I love working on my own, and I honestly think that is one of the secrets behind my productivity and creativity. I can focus deeply on the things I love to do, without interruptions.

Set opening hours, however, are not my favourite way of working. I love the freedom to choose when and how long I work. My Etsy shop is always open, and orders continue to come in, so dividing my attention between a physical shop and an online presence became another challenge.

So now, I am settling back into my almost-refurbished workshop and getting ready to welcome my loyal customers for visits again from mid-September. 🩶

I will also continue participating in local craft markets. The first one will already be next weekend, 5–6 September, at the Contemporary Craft Market at the Open Air Museum in Riga.

And most importantly — this open studio experience has lifted my confidence sky high.

I have met my customers face to face, received so many wonderful compliments about my craft practice:
“You should be proud of your creations.”
“Congratulations, you have found your niche!”
“Wonderful!”
“Unique!”
“So cool!”
“Such beautiful things!”. and the list goes on ..

and the expression I probably heard most often in my studio:

“I have never seen anything like that!”

Thats my Ikigai — my way and I will continue walking it with my best friend, my sewing machine (actually, I have several of them 😉), by my side.

So this is not the end of the adventure. 🧳
