This interior represents a quiet, deeply tactile interpretation of minimalism and modernism, with subtle influences of Japandi, where the primary language is not decoration, but material, texture, and form rooted in nature.

Every surface is carefully selected to reinforce a connection with surroundings.

Above all, the interior carries a profound sense of silence — not emptiness, but a calm, grounded stillness. This quiet removes distraction and visual noise, allowing the mind to slow down and focus. It is within this atmosphere that creativity can naturally unfold, supported by the tactile richness of materials and the harmonious relationship between architecture and nature.

Izuum process of making new living spaces. Light, textures and philosophy +

Design is the act of giving form to function without creating unnecessary noise.

It is the discipline of removing what competes for attention, so that what remains can speak clearly and deliberately.

Good architecture does not add more signals — it clarifies the ones that matter.

It can be created even within multi-apartment buildings — through thoughtful planning, controlled materiality, and a careful balance between shared and personal space. Even in dense urban environments, design can carve out moments of silence, focus, and intention.

Warmth through light and texture combined to create a deeply intimate and welcoming environment. The defining element here is the use of warm lighting — modern pendant fixtures by 101 Copenhagen glowing at around 2700K, which is the warmest tone within the white light spectrum. This light temperature evokes the softness of candlelight or a setting sun, making it perfect for restful, private spaces.

Natural linen curtains bring a sense of weightlessness and warmth to the interior, balancing modern eclecticism with elements of industrial design, wabi-sabi, and classical aesthetics. Their soft texture and muted translucency introduce calm and tactile comfort, allowing natural light to diffuse gently throughout the space.

Mood & Design Language

This space avoids harsh contrasts and cold tones altogether. It’s built around diffused, layered lighting and natural materials, establishing:
• An intimate atmosphere, suitable for rest and emotional retreat.
• A strong aesthetic of “slow living” — thoughtful, tactile, and grounded.
• An emphasis on material honesty — letting wood, textile, and plaster show their texture under warm illumination.

Wood, clay plaster, ceramics, stone. This is more than just a trend, using natural materials — it’s a return to authenticity, to the roots. Such an approach creates a sense of stability and grounding, reminding us that home is a place of strength.

Industrial minimalism under rustic Moroccan sauce. Kitchen countertop. IZUUM interior design. Year 2024.
The way we ended and how we started. From concept till small details.

The kitchen space is designed in a contemporary minimalist style with industrial and rustic undertones. The main furniture material is a natural dark oak veneer with a burned look. The hardware is utilitarian and mechanically precise: heavy-duty stainless steel handles in gun metal finish with anodized inserts evoke a sense of durability, as if borrowed from technical equipment, bought from Buster & Punch.

The backsplash is clad in handcrafted square zellige tiles with a bronze gloss finish. Islands countertop is crafted from marble-look Dekton composite.

Open storage systems and shelving emphasize architectural honesty, where every element is exposed and purposeful. Lighting is curated with contrast in mind — from the sculptural ceiling fixture with its fluid forms to the discreet integrated LED strips illuminating the prep zone and coffee station.

This project is a synthesis of rigor and warmth, rationality and sensuousness. It feels like a morning espresso: balanced, intense, enveloping.

Interior design process. Making decisions for shower room.
Concept:
The arch element from the entryway was echoed in the layout of the restroom, fulfilling two functional requirements. First, it allowed for the thermal insulation of the exterior wall to ensure comfort during shower use. Second, it facilitated even illumination of both the user and the microcement surfaces—walls and floor.

For this concept, Vibia Spa lighting was selected due to its suitability for high-humidity environments. All electrical components and wiring were additionally insulated and sealed to prevent direct exposure to water, ensuring full compliance with safety standards for wet zones.

Located in quiet Center of Riga. Main bathroom. During process.

This space is designed in a minimalist architectural style with elements of contemporary monochromatic wabi-sabi.

Monovolume with soft transitions between ceiling and walls. The absence of sharp corners or moldings contributes to a gentle spatial perception.
A freestanding oval bathtub acts as the architectural centerpiece of the room.

Walls, Ceiling, and Floor:
Microcement (microtopping) on floor and thin-layer Venetian plaster based on mineral binders with matte lacquer on top. The surface is matte with a subtly cloudy, hand-applied texture, giving a seamless, sculptural appearance.

Sink is molded from polymer concrete. Polymer concrete is a hard material that doesn’t absorb water and can withstand harsh weather conditions.
