Finding inspiration in flowers today… 🌸
One of the greatest joys of traveling is discovering how flowers have inspired artists for centuries. The more we explore, the more we realize that flowers have always been a universal symbol of beauty, hope, love, and the connection between people and nature.
Our journey began beneath “Calyx” by British artist Rebecca Louise Law—a breathtaking installation made from over 100,000 dried flowers, each carefully hand-threaded into delicate hanging garlands. Walking through this living cloud of flowers was a magical reminder that beauty can be both fragile and everlasting.

Viens no skaistākajiem ceļošanas mirkļiem ir atklāt, kā ziedi gadsimtiem ilgi ir iedvesmojuši māksliniekus. Jo vairāk tos iepazīstam, jo vairāk saprotam, ka ziedi vienmēr ir simbolizējuši skaistumu, cerību, mīlestību un cilvēka saikni ar dabu.
Mūsu ceļojums sākās zem britu mākslinieces Rebecca Louise Law instalācijas “Calyx” – iespaidīga mākslas darba, kas veidots no vairāk nekā 100 000 kaltētu ziedu. Pastaiga zem šī ziedu mākoņa atgādināja, cik trausls un vienlaikus mūžīgs var būt dabas skaistums.
We were also fascinated by these botanical flower models, created in the early 20th century by Robert and Reinhold Brendel.
The Brendel family became world-renowned for producing highly detailed botanical teaching models used in universities and museums across Europe. These enlarged models could be taken apart, allowing students and scientists to study the hidden structures of flowers in extraordinary detail.
They beautifully demonstrate that flowers have inspired not only artists, but also botanists, educators, and scientists for generations.
Mūs īpaši aizrāva arī šie botāniskie ziedu modeļi, kurus 20. gadsimta sākumā radīja Roberts un Reinholds Brendeli.
Brendeļu ģimene kļuva pasaulslavena ar saviem precīzi veidotajiem botāniskajiem mācību modeļiem, kurus izmantoja universitātēs un muzejos visā Eiropā. Palielinātie un izjaucamie modeļi ļāva studentiem un zinātniekiem izpētīt ziedu uzbūvi līdz vissmalkākajām detaļām.
Tie ir lielisks piemērs tam, ka ziedi gadsimtiem ilgi ir iedvesmojuši ne tikai māksliniekus,
