Territory is not simply geography. It is cultural, ancestral, embodied.

Six North African artists gather in Marrakech this January to examine how we claim the places and histories that define us. How we resist their erasure.
They document what dominant narratives work to conceal: ecological destruction, restricted freedoms, intergenerational trauma, ancestral persistence, suppressed legacies.

Through photography, painting, drawing, and installation, they assert agency. They make the hidden visible. They transform fragmentation into form.

What We Witness, We Carry asks essential questions: What do we choose to reveal? What must we carry forward? How does bearing witness become an act of resistance?

Presenting Mohamed Smyej digital resurrection of the legendary "dirham grafata" – that mythical 1965 Hassan II coin that ruled Moroccan gaming halls for decades. This isn't just currency; it's the original gaming token that launched a million high scores.

Smyej's work captures this cultural artifact in three distinct dimensions: meticulously crafted UV prints (only 2 editions per color variant, collectors take note 👀), a hypnotic rotating video study that turns currency into pixel poetry, and a never-repeating generative projection creating unique compositions that vanish every two seconds.

At BILLARD Exhibition, he presents a ceramic installation reimagining Zellij patterns inspired by Tetris game - where traditional craftsmanship meets gaming culture. A contemplative experience featuring handcrafted pieces that blur the lines between heritage and contemporary design.

art creates at the intersection of gaming culture and contemporary art. Based between Amsterdam and Morocco, his practice reimagines traditional North African cultural elements through digital media and interactive experiences, encompassing game design, digital art, and sound creation.

At BILLARD Exhibition, he presents "The Legend of Cheb Hasni" - where Raï meets retro gaming. An immersive gaming experience featuring arcade cabinets, NES cartridges, audio cassettes, and large format pixel art posters.
