Copenhill or Amager Bakke is in our spotlight today. A power plant… where people ski, hike, and breathe fresh air. Only in Copenhagen.
CopenHill turns sustainability into an experience — a place where the city’s energy becomes part of daily life. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), this innovative waste-to-energy plant doesn’t just process 440,000 tons of waste annually — it also provides a ski slope, hiking trail, and climbing wall for the citizens of Copenhagen.
The project embodies BIG’s idea of “hedonistic sustainability” — the belief that green design can improve quality of life instead of limiting it. From afar, it’s sculptural. Up close, it’s alive — with climbers, skiers, and kids laughing at the top of a power station.
This is where green design stops being a theory — and becomes joy.

Copenhagen is famous for its "spaces made for people". As part of our October - month of Copenhagen we would love to mention this different but totally coherent spaces:

Krøyers Plads, contemporary housing reinterprets historic warehouse typologies with pitched roofs, brick textures, and human-scale waterfront edges.

Just meters away, Broens Gadekøkken activates the quay as a flexible public room—food, seating, and seasonal programming that extend the promenade’s social life.

Together, they demonstrate Copenhagen’s model: architecture + placemaking + gastronomy as an integrated urban ecosystem.

October – the month of Copenhagen
Axel Towers — five bronze cylinders rising like modern sculptures beside Tivoli.
They shimmer differently every hour: gold at sunrise, amber at noon, and deep bronze at dusk.
Designed by Lundgaard & Tranberg, they bring curves, warmth, and rhythm into Copenhagen’s urban core.
The towers are elegant yet approachable — filled with cafés, offices, and terraces where people gather.
Architecture that feels alive — breathing with the city around it.

Nyhavn a gateway from the sea to the city center, was originaly constructed in 17th century. This historic harbor once welcomed ships, sailors and traders from around the world. Today its a vibrant blend of old world charm and modern day culture.
What once was a busting trade port is now a cozy canal lined with cafes, restaurants and boats. Nyhavn is known for its 17th century townhouses, brighlt painted and beautifully preserved. The architecture is classic Danish: narrow facades, gabled roofs, and a palette of colors that somehow always works - even on a grey day.
Whether you're here for the history, the architecture or just a good coffee with a great view, Nyhavn is a must -see in Copenhagen.

We give you our view of the The Opera House (Operaen)

Designed by Henning Larsen Architects, the building reflects Danish modernism at its most refined: monumental yet human, minimal yet expressive.

Its vast cantilevered roof — extending 32 meters beyond the façade — creates a dramatic visual tension, while the interior unfolds in warm oak, Italian marble, and golden tones that wrap the audience in light.

Step inside, and it feels like stepping into a golden instrument — warm wood, soft curves, and perfect acoustics.

Architecture here isn’t decoration. It’s performance.
And in true Copenhagen style, it’s open, democratic, and deeply human.

The Opera House is more than a cultural icon; it’s a statement of Denmark’s belief that architecture and art belong at the center of public life.

Designed by Danish–Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson, the Circle Bridge (Cirklebroen) transforms a simple pedestrian crossing into a living artwork.

Composed of five circular platforms supported by masts reminiscent of ship sails, the bridge pays tribute to Copenhagen’s maritime heritage and its culture of movement.

Its structure invites people to pause, interact, and experience the city at a slower rhythm — turning the daily commute into a visual and spatial experience.

The round platforms slow people down — you don’t just cross, you linger. You watch the city move, the water shimmer, and time breathe.

The Circle Bridge is not just a path across water; it’s a reminder that design can connect more than places — it connects people, time, and emotion.

The Black Diamond (The Danish Royal Library) — dark, reflective, and full of light inside.

It’s more than a library. It’s where Copenhagen keeps its stories, its knowledge, and its rhythm. Designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen, the Danish Royal Library extension captures a pure Nordic concept: architecture isn’t decoration — it’s emotion made tangible.

From the harbor, the building looks sharp and mysterious — but step inside, and you’re surrounded by warmth, wood, and sunlight that cuts through the glass atrium like poetry.

Here, minimalism isn’t emptiness. It’s intention. It’s space that lets the mind breathe.
In the Black Diamond, silence is part of the design. The walls don’t speak — they listen. Light enters quietly, slides along granite and wood, and fills the vast atrium with calm.

In a world of noise, this building teaches how silence can be the most powerful form of communication. Architecture that reminds you: silence can be the most powerful design.

October - Month of Copenhagen

What if building felt more like a neighborhood than a structure?

Shaped like a giant “8,” hence the name 8 House, this award-winning design blends homes, offices, shops & cafes into one flowing community. 💫

What’s wild? You can bike or walk from the street to the rooftop thanks to a sloping pathway that wraps around the whole building! 🚲🌿

It’s architecture that connects people — and brings city life upward. ⬆️

Welcome to BLOX — Copenhagen’s powerhouse of architecture, design, and ideas for how we live together.

Designed by OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture), BLOX rises from the harbor like a glass puzzle — housing the Danish Architecture Center, creative studios, urban labs, and cafés that buzz with energy.

Here, architecture isn’t static. It’s lived, discussed, challenged. BLOX is where designers, students, and citizens meet to rethink the city — from climate adaptation to everyday living.
