๐ณ๐ PBA-STYLE MBA TOURNAMENT DELIVERS THRILLING ACTION ON THE CHAMELEON PATTERN! ๐๐ณ
The inaugural PBA-style MBA Tournament proved to be a huge success, with bowlers taking on the demanding PBA Sport โChameleonโ oil pattern in one of the toughest competitions of the season. After an exciting day of high-quality bowling, Tomas Caruso and Alja Bergauer were crowned the first-ever champions! ๐ฅ๐
๐ฅ Menโs Competition
Matthew Magro topped the six-game qualifying stage with an impressive 204 average, the only player to average above the 200 mark. He was followed by Tomas Caruso, Mark Spiteri, Mikhail Mallia, Kenneth Arpa, Samuel Caruso, Philip Gruppetta and Dennis Mercieca, who all secured their places in the knockout rounds.
The head-to-head Round Robin produced plenty of drama, with Tomas and Samuel Caruso both winning five of their seven matches to finish at the top of the standings. Mark Spiteri also enjoyed an excellent campaign, while Kenneth Arpa and Matthew Magro completed the top five.
The Step Ladder Finals were packed with excitement as Matthew defeated Kenneth Arpa 184-172 before overcoming Mark Spiteri 192-168. His run ended in the semi-final after a 200-164 defeat to Samuel Caruso, earning him a well-deserved third place.
The championship match belonged to Tomas Caruso, who opened with a stunning string of strikes and never looked back. A dominant 229-153 victory over his brother Samuel secured the historic first PBA-style MBA title. ๐๐ช
๐ธ Womenโs Competition
Cynthia Frendo Duca led the qualifying round, finishing comfortably ahead of Tiziana Muscat Carannante, while Alja Bergauer qualified in third place before the match-play stage.
Round Robin action saw the leaderboard constantly changing, but Alja Bergauerโs five victories and superior pinfall lifted her into first place and straight into the championship match. Tiziana Muscat Carannante also collected five wins to finish second, while Kathryn Fenech produced one of the performances of the tournament by bouncing back from an opening defeat to win six of her remaining seven matches and climb into fourth.
Kathryn defeated Charlize Bartolo 155-147 before eliminating Cynthia Frendo Duca 201-190 to reach the next stage. Her impressive run ended against Tiziana, who claimed a 200-187 victory to book her place in the final.
The womenโs title match saw Alja Bergauer deliver a sensational performance, defeating Tiziana 246-142 to become the inaugural womenโs PBA-style MBA champion. ๐ฅ๐
