Abstract art is a really subjective type of art that differs from traditional still-life art. as an artist, you may have a certain control on how you want the end product to be like. but the finished product does take an entirely different form than you first imagined it to be. And it's altogether much better.

The African Bush Elephant!

This artwork was commissioned at the beginning of this year to a friend of mine.

Kiat wood slates were assembled to form the framing and it was used as a base canvas,finished with acrylic paint varnish to preserve the wood so as the artwork itself.

Ideas comes instantaneously.and when you take the initiative to pair it with your creativity without delaying,you get this.And I was just reading an article about african tribes and their culture at that time. These babies are actually two month old.
I mean... damn..
I used the simplest techniques that you could possibly imagine.varying from putty knifes and spray cans to crayonge.but I think that it's more about how the ex*****on of combining those resources in a subtle way is made.
Appreciative of my creation but also humble enough to know I can do much more.
I call this series ;familia ya kiafrika

P.s: look into the child eyes,you'll see him looking at you back.

Engulfment

Engulfent is a piece I worked on with the help of some friends to participate in art competition,hosted by Samudra art prize in collaboration with Caudan arts center.
The aim of this competition was to provide Artists a platform to create works that will raise collective awareness and engage the public in pressing social an environmental issues affecting our marine life and ecosystem.

This artwork aims to symbolize the destructive nature of the human race upon the marine ecosystem surrounding our beautiful island but also aquatic life in general.It's a mix media of acrylic pouring and painting combined with a sculpture made out of trash,salvaged from the beach and reused.

The sculpture illustrates a monster barracuda with human DNA,foreigne to existing aquatic animals and it's habitat trying to invade that existing ecosystem and destroy it according to it's own agenda.
