Feed the Hungry San Miguel — Why School Meals Matter:
Feed the Hungry San Miguel is a long-standing nonprofit that operates school kitchens and nutrition programs across rural communities in San Miguel de Allende. Since 1984, it has served hot, nutritious meals to thousands of children every school day, improving attendance, learning, and overall wellbeing.
Proper nutrition at school is essential for children’s development. Studies show that students who eat balanced meals have better attention, memory, and academic performance than hungry peers. Consistent access to nutritious food supports healthy growth, reduces illness and absenteeism, and fosters lifelong habits that benefit entire families and communities.
