Come take a peek into the fieldwork behind Teacher Ammi’s picture books—what are night observations really like? 🌙
来看看阿米老师绘本创作背后的田野体验——夜观，是怎样的一回事🌙
“Into the Night, Gliding”
In October 2021, I collaborated with NSP on a week-long field study in Langkawi. Out of eight days, six nights were spent on night observations.
On the first two nights, we explored a coconut grove, where a beautiful traditional Malay wooden house stood quietly at its center—peaceful and almost magical at night.
I naively thought I wouldn’t need proper sports shoes in a coconut grove…
Well, I was very “warmly welcomed” by leeches 😅
They kept biting me along the way—definitely an unforgettable (and slightly itchy) experience.
That’s fieldwork for you—always full of surprises (and a little bit of challenge).
《夜幕降临，滑翔》
2021年10月，我与NSP合作，在兰卡威岛展开一周的实地考察。8天里，有6个夜晚都在进行夜间观察。
第一晚和第二晚，我们走进一片椰林。椰林中央，有一座非常漂亮的马来传统高脚木屋，夜晚静谧又迷人。
我当时还天真地以为，在椰林里不需要穿运动鞋……
结果呢？被水蛭“热烈欢迎”😅 一路被疯狂叮咬，留下了非常深刻（也有点痒痒）的回忆。
这就是田野——总是充满惊喜（和一点点挑战）。
