Architecture should do more than provide shelter; it should act as a lens for the world around us.

In this project, our goal was to masterfully frame the view, turning the landscape into a living, breathing piece of art that residents can interact with daily. By blurring the boundaries between interior comfort and the raw beauty of the outdoors, this space creates a seamless dialogue between nature and people. Whether it’s the way the light catches the timber or the quiet reflection of the water, every element is designed to foster a sense of grounding and tranquillity.

We aren't just designing buildings—we are curating experiences that invite nature to become part of the home.

Featured here is a look at the "Jungle Lantern" concept and our latest design proposal, the "Framed View" House.

Menara Malaysia: A Monument of Unity
Together We Rise, Equally We Stand.

Menara Malaysia is more than just a structure; it is a living symbol of our nation’s soul. At its foundational base, the architecture seamlessly weaves together the distinct, intricate heritage of Malaysia’s diverse cultures—Indian, Islamic/Malay, and Chinese traditional elements. No single culture overshadows another; instead, they stand shoulder-to-shoulder, carrying the weight of our shared future.

From this diverse yet unified foundation rises a single, soaring tower. It represents our collective ambition, proving that when we embrace equality and togetherness, there is no limit to how high we can build this country. We are many stories, but we are one skyline.

💡 Engineering & Design Provocations to Push the Concept Further

To continue challenging standard building physics and provoke deeper conversation under your brand, here are three high-concept ideas for your future designs:

The Kinematic Balance (Dynamic Equilibrium): Instead of a static metallic sphere holding up the upper tower, imagine a magnetic levitation (MagLev) core or a hydraulic structural joint. The upper tower could subtly shift or self-balance in real-time response to wind loads. This would engineer a literal representation of "dynamic harmony"—a society that constantly adjusts to external pressures to remain perfectly balanced together.

The "Invisible" Supporting Core (Tension Architecture): Flip standard engineering on its head by utilizing a massive tensegrity network or ultra-high-strength transparent carbon-nanotube columns. To the naked eye, the massive patterned upper block would look as if it is entirely floating in mid-air above the cultural base, connected only by light. This provokes the question: How can something so heavy look so weightless? It symbolizes that the bond holding a nation together is invisible but unbreakable.

The Living Eco-Skeletor (Sub-Tropical Biophilic Integration): Make the intricate geometric facade of the upper tower a functional vertical ecosystem. Integrate hyper-porous concrete that captures Malaysia’s heavy rainfall, channel it through the sphere into the cultural base's reflection pools, and use solar-kinetic panels disguised as traditional wood-carving motifs. Engineering a building that breathes and sustains itself mimics a society that nurtures its own people.

Another bold vision by Arkitek SahrudinOmar+studio

Reimagining the new facade for DBKL Tower 1, Jalan Raja Laut — transforming an existing office tower into a vertical public destination for Kuala Lumpur.

This proposal is more than just a facade upgrade.
It introduces a people-centric vertical urban experience where the public can move from the ground level all the way up through elevated terraces and public platforms overlooking the iconic Dataran Merdeka skyline.

The design integrates:
• Vertical green terraces at every level
• Public interaction spaces in the sky
• Elevated viewing decks facing Kuala Lumpur city
• Seamless connection between architecture and urban life
• Additional communal spaces for the people
• Preservation of the existing DBKL Tower 1 identity while injecting a bold contemporary intervention

Architecture should not only serve buildings.
It should serve the city and its people.

A daring idea.
A new urban experience.
A different vision for Kuala Lumpur.

ESCAPE THE NOISE. RETURN TO NATURE.

A retreat where architecture disappears into the landscape.
No air-conditioning.
No internet.
No distractions.

Just the sound of water, wind through the trees, natural light, and pure tropical living.

This low-density secluded resort concept is designed to reconnect people with nature — raw, honest, calming, and deeply personal. Every space is open to the environment, allowing nature itself to become the luxury.

A school is not just a building. It’s a living environment.

This design challenges the conventional “concrete box” by inserting a lush internal landscape right into the heart of the building. Why? Because learning doesn’t only happen in classrooms — it happens through movement, curiosity, and interaction with space and nature.

🌿 The Idea: Learning Through Environment
Instead of isolating students in enclosed spaces, we carved out a green core — a vertical landscape that becomes a visual, climatic, and emotional anchor. Students don’t just pass through corridors; they experience nature continuously.

💨 Natural Ventilation Strategy (Cross Ventilation)
This is a passive design school:

* Open corridors and permeable façades allow air to flow across the building.
* Vertical voids act as thermal chimneys, pulling hot air up and out
* Shaded façades with fins reduce heat gain while maintaining airflow

Result: cooler interiors with minimal reliance on mechanical cooling.

🌱 Why This Matters (Green School Approach)

* Reduces energy consumption
* Improves indoor air quality
* Enhances student comfort and focus
* Connects students psychologically to nature

🎯 Architecture That Provokes Movement & Learning
Every corner is intentional:

* Terraced seating encourages informal interaction
* Visual connections stimulate curiosity
* Open circulation promotes physical activity

✨ Learning process is fun.

This is not just sustainable architecture.
This is architecture that teaches.

Designing vertical housing is never a simple task.

It’s not just about stacking units into the sky; it’s about creating a living experience. Every level must balance density, privacy, and quality of life. In vertical living, one key question always drives our design thinking:

How do we give every owner a sense of privacy while still offering a great view every single day?

This project explores that balance.

Each unit is carefully articulated to avoid direct overlooking, creating layers of visual privacy. At the same time, the building form opens outward, capturing light, framing views, and allowing residents to feel connected to the city without being exposed to it.

The stepped geometry, recessed balconies, and controlled façade rhythm are not just aesthetic decisions; they are deliberate architectural strategies to:
• Minimize visual intrusion between units
• Maximize natural light pe*******on
• Create meaningful outdoor spaces in the sky
• Offer uninterrupted, premium views

Because in vertical housing, luxury is not just height — it’s how you live within that height.

Another milestone by Arkitek SahrudinOmar+studio — a corporate office lobby designed with people at its core.

This space is conceived as more than just a point of arrival. It is a carefully curated environment where first impressions, daily interactions, and corporate identity intersect seamlessly. The design balances warmth and professionalism — creating a lobby that feels welcoming without compromising its strong corporate presence.

The spatial planning emphasizes openness and clarity. A central seating arrangement encourages natural conversation and informal meetings, allowing visitors and staff to engage comfortably. At the same time, clear visual connections to reception and circulation zones ensure intuitive wayfinding, reducing friction in daily movement.

Materiality plays a key role in defining the atmosphere. Warm timber elements soften the space, while stone and refined finishes reinforce a sense of permanence and credibility. The backdrop feature wall acts as a visual anchor — projecting a bold corporate identity while maintaining elegance through controlled lighting and texture.

Lighting is intentionally designed to enhance both mood and functionality. The “light box” effect creates a calm, evenly illuminated focal point, elevating the brand presence without overwhelming the user experience. Natural and artificial lighting work together to highlight textures, depth, and spatial hierarchy.

What makes this lobby truly effective is its human-centric approach. It accommodates different user behaviors — from quick check-ins at the reception to casual discussions on the sofas to quiet moments of waiting. The presence of people brings life to the space, transforming it into a dynamic and engaging environment rather than a static corporate hall.

A corporate lobby should not feel intimidating. It should communicate confidence, clarity, and hospitality. This project demonstrates how thoughtful design can achieve all three.

A new vision for a Community Hub + Developer Showcase Center, where architecture connects people, business, and environment seamlessly.

This medium-scale development is designed as a street-friendly building, intentionally breaking away from the typical enclosed commercial block. The ground level is porous, welcoming, and active, drawing people in naturally from the street edge into a vibrant social and commercial environment.

The building forms steps upward in a series of layered terraces, creating a vertical journey that encourages movement from the ground to the upper levels. Each level is not isolated; instead, it is visually and physically connected through open decks, greenery, and transitional spaces. This creates a continuous human experience, rather than segmented floors.

A defining feature of the design is the permeable façade system — a lightweight screen that filters sunlight, reduces heat gain, and enhances privacy while maintaining openness. This allows:
✔ Abundant natural lighting pe*******on
✔ Effective cross ventilation throughout the building
✔ Reduced reliance on mechanical cooling
✔ A more comfortable, sustainable internal environment

Green pockets are carefully integrated into every level, softening the structure and reinforcing the idea of a living, breathing architecture.

More than just a building, this hub acts as a developer showcase center, a place where potential buyers, investors, and the community can engage, experience, and connect with future developments in an immersive setting.
