Tanam Masa Hujan Lebat Berterusan

Ramai yang teruja bila musim hujan datang.
Tanah basah. Air percuma. Tak perlu siram.

Nampak macam waktu paling sesuai untuk menanam.
Tapi sebenarnya, untuk anak benih dan akar muda, inilah antara waktu paling mencabar.

Akar anak pokok yang baru ditanam belum sempat berpaut kuat pada media. Struktur akar masih lembut, halus dan sedang belajar menyesuaikan diri.
Bila hujan turun tanpa henti, apa yang berlaku bukan sekadar tanah basah.

Media mula menjadi padat.
Ruang udara di antara partikel tanah dipenuhi air.
Oksigen yang akar perlukan untuk bernafas hilang sedikit demi sedikit.

Akar tidak mati serta-merta.
Ia lemas perlahan-lahan.

Dalam keadaan ini, anak benih sering menunjukkan tanda yang mengelirukan:
• Daun nampak segar pada awalnya
• Pokok tiba-tiba layu walaupun tanah basah
• Pertumbuhan terhenti tanpa sebab jelas
• Ada yang rebah seolah-olah “tak jadi”

Hakikatnya, ini bukan salah benih.
Ini bukan masalah baja.
Ini masalah masa tanam yang tidak sesuai dengan keadaan cuaca.

Hujan lebat berterusan lebih sesuai untuk pokok yang sudah matang dan berakar kuat.
Untuk anak benih, ia memerlukan:
• media yang tidak terlalu padat
• saliran baik
• tempoh kering-basah yang seimbang
• oksigen mencukupi di zon akar

Sebab itu dalam berkebun, masa menanam sama penting dengan cara menanam.

📌 Prinsip mudah untuk ingat

Bukan semua hujan itu rahmat untuk anak pokok.
Kadang-kadang, menunggu cuaca reda sedikit adalah keputusan terbaik untuk jangka panjang.

Ilmu berkebun bukan tentang cepat tanam.
Ia tentang tanam pada masa yang pokok mampu hidup dengan tenang.

1. Bin odours – Sprinkle baking soda in the bottom + add citrus peel 🍋

2. Fridge funk – Keep a bowl of bicarb or charcoal inside 🧊

3. Smelly drains – Pour hot water + lemon juice or vinegar weekly 💧

4. Pet smells – Sprinkle bicarb on rugs, leave, then hoover 🐾

5. Cooking smells – Simmer lemon, rosemary & cloves on the hob 🍲

6. Musty wardrobes – Hang lavender sachets or cedar blocks 👗

7. Toilet smells – Drop essential oils in the toilet roll tube or brush holder 🚽
