MIL Design is headed by husband and wife team Mak Mil Yung and Edward Lye. Together, we and our team offer a full suite of residential and commercial design services both in Malaysia and abroad. From our very own carpentry workshop in KL we bring from design to site and customize projects from a scratch. This ‘from paper to site’ method ensures quality and that each work is designed uniquely, almost like a well-crafted piece of art. Within the last four years, we are thrilled that our company has experienced an onslaught of success and clinched several coveted international awards. Our works included the design of the home for Hollywood celebrity Mr Henry Golding of Crazy,Rich,Asian movie fame, a Learning Centre for autistic youths, conceptual restaurants converted from old buildings, award winning show houses and private houses from link houses to bungalows. From our completed designs of homes, show houses to conceptual offices our standards do not waver. Combined with our 20 years in architecture, interior design, construction and project management, we promise to deliver you a finished product of the highest quality, at the best price.

The library we always feel is that space in a home where people use it the most.
We like to call it the real family space.
The private space which we separate away from the more public living room.
This is not the showoff living to guests, nor is it for entertaining but for really spending real time with the children, the family

This is also where furnitures are almost always simple ( the kids will mess it up they said), the space is messy ( or I'll call it lively) with books and toys, shelves are packed with photo frames, trophies, travelling memoirs. There is always a Japanese souvenir or skiing photos. Lifely and colorful. Legos might spill on the floor, half built.
People sit or lay on the floor mostly amidst soft rugs.

We were just at site.
And then followed the smell of nasi kukus.

Five minutes later we ended up spending the afternoon chatting with half the kampung.
Behind the heritage streets is a real community that’s still living its everyday life.
That’s probably why I still wander into the back lanes whenever we visit a site.

This wallpaper is not made of paper. It is hand-crafted using a plaster-based mixture called gesso, one pattern at a time.

A tiny outdoor space with greeneries, especially large ferns or potted plans and a simple outdoor chair can totally enhance the space of a bedroom. Just by bringing in cross ventilation and natural sunlight the room looks more spacious and warm.
A bay window seat works wonders here where one can just sit down to relax and enjoy gentle breeze from the windows.
A separate study area annexed from the main bedroom is good for different sleep behaviours of the couple.

We designed this kitchen before we designed the rest of the home.
For this three-generation family, It was the place where everyone naturally gathered
That's why every decision mattered. Here there is a generous island of 12 feet with comfortable seatings for 6, plenty of concealed storage to keep the space clutter-free, layered lighting for different moods, and a leather-finished granite chosen not only for its rich texture, but also for its durability for everyday family life.
Good kitchen design isn't just about beautiful materials. It's about creating a space that works effortlessly every single day, while bringing the family together.
