Our REKA Design Week 2026 Opening Launch Video was more than an introduction — it captured the purpose behind this year’s journey, Designing Dignity.

Inspired by the Wau, an enduring symbol of Malaysian culture and craftsmanship, we imagined it taking flight — carrying our roots, stories and creative spirit forward, while inspiring new perspectives on how design can shape the way we live.

From culture to community, heritage to new ideas, the Wau became a symbol of what RDW2026 set out to do: honour where we come from, while allowing design to carry us somewhere new.

When the space speaks for itself.

Before the crowd, the conversations and the activities, there was the space — thoughtfully curated to let design, material, form and ideas take centre stage.

REKA Design Week 2026 was imagined beyond a conventional exhibition. Each installation and display came together as part of a larger design experience — inviting visitors to slow down, observe, discover and perhaps take a little inspiration home with them.

Because good design isn’t only something to admire. It can influence how we live, feel and experience the everyday.

Day 4 explored Culture & Heritage — bringing conversations around architecture, identity, place and our shared cultural stories to the forefront.
And what better way to close the week than with a celebration of tradition through Wayang Kulit, followed by our final gathering as a community.

A look back at where it all began. ✨
The opening of REKA Design Week 2026 marked the beginning of four days of design, conversations, creativity and community at Pavilion Damansara Heights.

Under this year’s theme, Designing Dignity, we brought together designers, industry partners, collaborators and the wider creative community to celebrate design that is rooted in people, culture and purpose.

A memorable start to an incredible week — and one we’re excited to revisit through these moments. 💫
