PORT25 We are the People Of Remarkable Talent

PORT, being the acronym for People Of Remarkable Talent, is a design collaborative (architecture+interior+multi-disciplinary) based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With the aim to forge broader inter-disciplinary creative collaborations, PORT commune was created by re-purposing an old factory/warehouse into a space where like-minded creative types would gather and share discourses or exhibits.

BookXcess Bookstore — Design by PORT25

BookXcess at Sunway is envisioned by PORT25 as a poetic celebration of renewal—architectural, cultural, and intellectual. Rooted in the history of Sunway City, once a vast expanse of exhausted tin-mining land, the design draws from the site’s extraordinary metamorphosis into a thriving urban ecosystem. As the land healed and reinvented itself, the bookstore similarly becomes a vessel for the continual regeneration of ideas.
For PORT25, books embody knowledge as a living resource—constantly replenishing, shaping perspectives, and sustaining communities. This belief forms the foundation of the spatial concept. The bookstore is crafted as a narrative journey: from a landscape of depletion to one of abundance, mirroring Sunway’s transformation from brownfield terrain to a dynamic centre of life, learning, and collective imagination.
Thoughtful materiality, layered spatial sequences, and immersive visual storytelling guide visitors through moments of discovery. Every shelf, threshold, and corridor is designed to evoke exploration—as though mining not for minerals, but for insight, inspiration, and possibility.

Thus, BookXcess becomes more than a bookstore.
It stands as a testament to renewal—of place, of purpose, and of knowledge that continues to evolve, inspire, and reinvigorate the community.

was task to design the wel lknown neigbourhood family eatery establised nearly a decade ago (taman desa) at The Gardens Mall The design aproach engaging the red-kettle identity of homemade-comfort-food in-mind. The monoblock food/coffee counter/bar was carefully placed in the centre of the irregular 5,000 sf space forming the core anchor of the reastaurant. The difficult irregular layout of the outlet, given the best oppurtunity to configure different dining zone with different experiences and space quality (from street view window seating to private dining room). The design engaging with timber shutters & lattices to formed volume and enclosure of space, natural material with natural colour palette elevate the restaurant core value of bringing homemade-comfort-food to all.
