Growing up, making friends felt like an impossible mission and so I found solace in imaginary worlds, fictional friends and unfathomable quests. I quickly learned how life was a little less lonely when you had a book at hand and eventually took up a librarian position in school because youâd be allowed to borrow three times more books than the regular student, but most importantly, it became a place I could hide away and steer clear from the awkward social in*******se that is recess time. Also, stamping due dates on library cards (kad pinjaman lol) used to be a thrill I could never explain, but something future me now understands. So when suggested a Pop Up Library with us earlier this year, the answer was a definite âWHEN??â
Carol is a one woman modern librarian collecting, curating and sharing her love for reading and books in public spaces through community and now pop up libraries. Books and community are deeply linked through shared ideas, empathy, and physical spaces like libraries. It has been a delight to witness the comeback and growth of offline hobbies such as writing, sketching, painting, journaling and most importantly, reading all of which are crucial for critical thinking, mental health and the ability to articulate and be empathetic. People like Carol are unsung heroes who make the world a better place, one thought, one book at a time, thank you Carol for making this happen, thank you for donating some of the books in this pop up and thank you, the reader, for being part of itâ€ïž
