Four weeks ago, they were learning how to hold the hook, control their tension and make their first stitches.

Today, they’re working on their final project, a panel shirt. 🥹🧶💜

And honestly, watching this transformation has been one of the most rewarding parts of this training.

We’ve watched them struggle with new techniques, make mistakes, try again, figure things out and slowly become more confident in what their hands can create.

But it’s not just the crochet skills that make us proud.

It’s their confidence. Their resilience. Their willingness to keep learning. And the fact that they can now look at a project like this and say, “I can make this.”

Four weeks. So much growth. So much learning. And a final project that speaks for itself. 🥹✨

This is what happens when children are given the right guidance, patient instruction and the opportunity to learn a real creative skill.

At Pelmy Academy, we don’t just teach crochet. We teach children how to learn, create, persevere and take pride in what they can do.

They’re not just making granny squares… they’re CLOCKING IT! 😁🧶✨

Look at the confidence on their faces! From learning the basics to actually seeing their granny square crochet bags come together, our young creators are getting more comfortable with their hooks, their yarn and, most importantly, with what they can create with their own hands.

And honestly? Watching them get excited about their own progress is the best part. 🥹💜

This is what we’re doing at Pelmy Academy; giving people the chance to learn creative skills, make real projects and have a whole lot of fun while they’re at it. 😁

And yes… these bags are coming together nicely! 👏🏽🧶

Hear what our students have to say about our crochet class. 💜

We asked them to share a little about their experience so far, and they each had something to say about their time in class.

And then there’s Ekene, our youngest at just 9 years old, who simply says she has “nothing to say.” 😂

We just laugh it off because, honestly, sometimes the best response is no response. 😂💜

But beyond what they say, you can see the experience for yourself.

They’re learning.
They’re creating.
They’re getting more confident with their hooks.
And they’re making actual projects with their own hands.

That’s what we want our children to experience at Pelmy Academy; not just being taught crochet, but actually understanding what they’re doing and becoming confident enough to create on their own.

Granny squares look simple… until you have to make several of them the same size, keep your tension steady, and then join them neatly. 😅🧶

That’s exactly what our students have been working on.

From making each square to figuring out how the pieces fit together, they’re learning the little details that make a handmade project look properly finished.

And this is one of our favourite parts of teaching crochet, watching them go from “I hope I can do this” to confidently putting the pieces together themselves.

No shortcuts. Just yarn, hooks, patience, and plenty of practice. 🤍

Everyone starts from the same point, but no two learning experiences ever look exactly alike. And somehow, that’s what makes every class worth showing up for.

This oversized textured wall art is being created by members of the club, and today we’re taking you back to where it all began—from transferring the design onto the fabric and exploring colour combinations to bringing the first sections of the artwork to life.

We believe creativity deserves to be experienced, not rushed. That’s why we’re excited to share the process with you, not just the finished piece.

The artwork is still in progress, and honestly, that’s our favourite part. Watching an idea slowly unfold is where the magic is.
