About the tortoise art:
The tortoise art with a 100% zebra skin was first created in 2010, and the art was inspired by the cultural heritage of Umumberi Village of Arondizogu in Abia State Nigeria. Many years ago tortoise which is known in Igbo language as Mbe was said to be the ancestral spirit of Umumberi village, Mbe is celebrated in a special way with a remarkable historical festival called Mbe day in Umumberi village, the Mbe festival takes place in every four years to remark and celebrate the oldest Mbe in the land. The art which was first created in 2010 and was selling more than 60 pieces per month, during the Abuja art festival the tortoise art was said to be selling at average of 300 pieces after the exhibition, the art is created in many frame forms and backgrounds for export and local sales.
