Steeze Story #1: The Day I Forgot My Sauce
So let me tell you about the day I nearly fumbled my own drip.
It was Lagos Fashion Week, the final day. Amaka had somehow pulled strings and got us backstage passes (she always has the plug).
I was excited but also low key nervous, this was my first time attending something that big, and I really wanted to rep my brand well.
I’d planned my outfit with military precision. Fresh kicks ✔️
Wide-leg jeans✔️
Ironed sharp like a pastor's trousers ✔️
And the highlight? My new T-shirt: “Steeze without God na breeze.”✔️
I was so hyped about this shirt.
The phrase literally dropped into my spirit one day, and it hasn’t left me since. It captures me, honestly.
I’ve had moments where I looked the part, but felt totally empty and other times where I was low key dressed, but carried peace, grace, and divine backing like perfume😜
Anyway, on the big day, I was running around, trying not to be late, and somewhere between fixing lashes and finding Bolt, I left the shirt at home😪
You read that right.
I. Forgot. The. Shirt.
Just grabbed a plain black tank top and dipped.
When I got to the venue, everyone was dripping like water from AC. Photographers, influencers, stylists.
Even the interns looked like they had stylists. And me? I felt like plain rice with no stew🤣 I literally avoided every camera like a suspect in police custody. I kept thinking, “How did I come to showcase faith and fashion and leave the whole message at home?”
But God being God, something wild happened.
A lady walked up to me and goes, “Hi, you’re the one behind ‘Steeze without God na breeze,’ right?”
I froze. I was like, “Yes...?”
She smiled and said, “Girl, your post slapped. My cousin got the tee last week, wore it to uni, and her lecturer stopped her in class to ask where she got it. You’re really doing something powerful. Keep going.”
At that moment, I wanted to hug her. I swear I nearly cried.
Because you know what? Even when I felt like I had no steeze, the message had already gone ahead of me. God was already working, shirt or no shirt.
So yeah, that day I looked mid, but left full. And it reminded me: Steeze without God? Na pure breeze. But with Him? Even when you miss the mark, grace fills the gap.
Would you wear this? Or better still have you ever felt like this?
