When Art Meets Justice: A Milestone Moment

August 9th marked a profound personal and artistic milestone 2025. My piece "The Twist" found its home on the wall of a distinguished barrister, but more importantly, it sparked conversations that matter. 🙏🏾

About "The Twist": A charcoal drawing of two interlaced male figures, mouths sealed with naira notes, yet holding papers inscribed "I KNOW THE TRUTH." It explores the tension between moral knowledge and systemic silence, when we know what's right but are prevented from speaking it.

To the incredible artists, writers, barristers, lawyers, and dignitaries I met - , , amongst others - thank you for proving that when creative minds and legal minds converge, powerful dialogue emerges.

Special gratitude to the Law Art Festival organizers and chairman - your vision to blend art with legal discourse was truly visionary.

This was the festival's first art exhibition, and what a statement it made! Art doesn't just decorate walls; it holds up mirrors to society's conscience.

The piece may be sold, but its message continues to echo in the corridors where justice is sought and sometimes, sadly, negotiated.

Question for reflection: How do we ensure truth in our hands translates to justice in our society?

There are joys that tears can't express,
And pains that only laughter can tell.
In our desire to overcome fate,
We bend to be led by faith.

We seek a life told like a fairytale,
Painted with pictures of advanced reality.
Whoever said there's no life after death?
And who has survived the death in life’s breath?

We know of a throne where light glows,
Brighter than the sun, consuming shadows.
From it will emanate a voice,
Judging all in quest, by acts, not choice.

On that day, we will finally see
Those who truly were His own.
A crown will distinguish, with stars adorned,
What all will become and where destined.

The joy we seek should transcend this life;
Don’t live for things—they’re a two-edged knife.
When they cease, your smile will fade.
But if you seek a life beyond yesterday,

"DILEMMA and SURRENDER"

This is a poignant charcoal drawing on paper that serves as a visual representation of my journey from struggles, pains, and unfulfillment to a place of freedom and self-discovery. It is a testament to the transformative power of surrendering to something greater than oneself.

Description: In this powerful artwork, I portrays the internal turmoil of living with flaws, burdens, and weaknesses that seemed insurmountable. These issues became a relentless source of inner strife, overshadowing any semblance of progress or happiness.
The charcoal medium is skillfully employed to convey the weight of these struggles and the darkness that bedeviled my life at that time.

A Turning Point: The creation of "DILEMMA and SURRENDER" marks a profound turning point in my life—a rebirth and newfound freedom. It symbolizes the moment when I let go of my fears and feelings that had held me captive for far too long. The act of surrendering to something greater, as inspired by a powerful scripture, became the catalyst for change and healing.

Inspiration from Faith: I drew inspiration from the words, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, KJV). This verse serves as a guiding light, offering solace and grace to rise above personal weaknesses and insecurities. The journey of surrender depicted in this artwork is a universal one, accessible to anyone seeking help and freedom.

Symbolism: The reference photograph of a friend is skillfully integrated into the composition, illustrating the dilemma and trauma experienced I went through. The moment of letting go and surrender is beautifully portrayed through the mastery of charcoal on paper.
