Not everything you see at handover tells the full story.
Before a space is ever “finished,” it goes through what we call a snag phase; the quiet, meticulous process of catching the things most people would never notice, but would absolutely feel.
A misaligned handle.
A paint edge that isn’t quite clean.
Lighting that casts the wrong tone at night.
A curtain hem that falls just a little too short.

Individually, they seem minor. Together, they are the difference between a space that looks done and one that feels considered.
For us, snagging isn’t a final step, it’s where the project is refined and adjusted

The other day, we stopped by for a quick accessories run—and it turned into a genuinely productive one. From rugs and statement lamps to furniture and outdoor pieces, the variety makes it easy to source for different moods and spaces. There’s something about a true one-stop shop that just simplifies the entire process.

Unfortunately, we do see clients come to us saying ‘HELP! We’ve made a massive mistake’. We’d like to stop expensive mistakes before they happen, so we’ve created a list on the most common design mistakes we see so it’s avoided.

1. Getting the scale wrong
A massive char next to a small desk or huge bedside tables next to a small single bed will throw off the overall look of the interior room design. Although there is no set rule for deciding the scale of items you’re placing in a room, there are standard heights for furniture such as kitchen stools and dining chairs, but these are mostly for practicality.

2. Following trends
‘Trend’ is such an isolating word, as there’s a misconception that they’re ugly. They’re not, they’re just short lived and no one wants a home style they’d be sick of in 5 years.

3. Ignoring ‘less is more’
Sometimes avoiding interior design mistakes is all about remembering good vs bad interior design often comes down to simplicity. Try not to overcomplicate your home by squeezing in too much furniture or creating unnecessary clutter. Clean home, clean mind!

4. Mixing too many styles
There are so many interior design styles out there that can inspire your own style and it can get overwhelming trying to mix them up without creating a hot mess. One trick people use to safely mix different styles is the 70/30 rule. That is use about 70% of the space in one style and 30% of a different one.

5. Extreme budget buying
We all love a bargain and it’s amazing how classy a lot of ‘sale’ buys can look. However, sometimes pricier items have that price point for a reason, they’re just ✨ Stunning ✨. One very special item can really transform an interior and immediately lift the decor of the entire room. You should allow yourself a one-off splurge every once in a while.
