That tension is real.

Days like Children’s Day can feel deeply hollow when somewhere, parents are praying for news, children are frightened, and teachers who simply showed up to do their jobs are trapped inside a nightmare they did not choose.

It becomes difficult to hold balloons, cheerful captions, and school celebrations in the same emotional space as abductions, insecurity, displacement, and the quiet fear many families live with daily.

What makes it heavier is that these stories often disappear from public attention too quickly. The outrage fades. The hashtags slow down. But for the affected families, time does not move on so easily. Every extra day matters.

At the same time, I think moments like this also force a harder reflection about what protecting children truly means. Not just celebrating them in speeches and themed outfits once a year, but building a society where:

children can go to school safely,

teachers are not abandoned to danger,

parents are not terrified by ordinary routines,

and childhood itself is not constantly interrupted by violence and uncertainty.

The most honest response on a day like this is not forced celebration. It is sober remembrance, empathy, prayer, advocacy, and refusing to become numb to suffering simply because the news cycle moved on.

Our stance captures the grief and frustration of the parents, family and friends of the abducted.
