During the Pentecost weekend — May 23, 24, and 25, 2026 — artists from Amsterdam’s Jordaan district open their doors to the public from 12:00 to 18:00.

Step inside and discover a diverse range of studios, showcasing everything from emerging talents to established artists. The Open Ateliers feature a wide variety of artistic techniques, from portrait painting to design and interactive installations.

The Open Ateliers Jordaan have been successfully organized by and for artists for many years. In 1998, the Stichting Open Ateliers Jordaan was founded. Every two years (in even-numbered years), artists welcome visitors into their creative spaces.

“Hasenauge” / Rabbit’s eye

This photograph has been taken by a German artist around Easter in the year after the fall of the Berlin Wall, when suddenly out of nowhere a black and white rabbit crossed his way and stood still in the middle of the path. While usually rabbits run away quickly, this one was sitting and staring at the artist approaching. The rabbit was injured, he must have been hit by a car and managed to hop away from the road, three legged. The artist took him home. The rabbit made a few more years of his rabbit life in the garden of the artist. He served as an unusual model with his eyes accentuated like with a black eyeliner.

This deserves to be on a MUCH bigger stage:

Torch Song, a play by Harvey Fierstein, staged by Amsterdam-based English speaking theater foundation The Cauldron.

The story of Arnold, a gay man, drag queen, and torch singer, in search love and recognition, experiencing loss, and parenthood. The story plays in 1970s and 1980s New York City, but it is as actual as it only can be.

Hilarious dialogues - in every sentence there is witty humor & deep emotions. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Don’t go there - RUN!
