November 23, 2019 marked a pivotal moment in my journey towards sustainable fashion and community empowerment. This image captures the inception of my venture into upcycling ♻️ unused clothes and leftover materials, crafting cardholders and bags—a testament to the old adage that yesterday's struggles pave the way for tomorrow's triumphs. As a self-made entrepreneur and seasoned old-newcomer in the industry, I've poured my heart and soul into building Talent House Amsterdam (www.atalenthouse.com) —a platform where creativity knows no bounds. It's a space where newcomers and immigrants are welcomed into a community of creatives, assisting them in finding their way to the market by designing sustainable products and goods from A to Z in the fashion and creative industry. Nancy Schoenmakers graduated as a Visual Arts and Design Teacher at the HKU in 2006 and graduated in photography from the Royal Academy of Art in 2008. Since then, she has worked as an independent (fashion) photographer for various (inter)national magazines and brands. In addition to publications, she exhibits her work in various exhibitions. She was nominated for the SO Photography Award 2019. Nancy is also a documentary vlogger, where she often uses committed themes.
