The Frozen Fountain is a shop selling contemporary furniture and home accessories. In addition, The Frozen Fountain has organised many exhibitions.

The collection is then made complete by a selection of international furniture brands, creating an interesting interplay of classics and designs by contemporary designers. With these exhibitions, we strive to visualise the symbiosis between idea and end product. The emphasis has now shifted more onto installations and art commissions. Installations can be organised relatively quickly, allowing us to respond better to the latest developments. In addition, issuing art commissions allows us to investigate a particular subject in greater depth.

Dutch Design, driven by invention

As part of The Greatness of Dutch Design at The Gallery Rosewood Amsterdam, we celebrate the work of Dirk van der Kooij. A designer The Frozen Fountain has presented for more than fifteen years, following a practice driven by curiosity, invention and a fascination with what materials can become.

Van der Kooij moves naturally between the roles of designer, craftsman and inventor. Best known for working with reclaimed synthetics, he has developed his own machines and a low-resolution 3D-printing process to create furniture and objects. The extruded surfaces that result have become a signature of his work, where the precision of the machine meets the irregularity and character of the material.

Serious craft, playful spirit 🍭

Very well made, with plenty of personality. Tom Frencken brings a playful hand to furniture, objects and interiors.

Working from his studio in Eindhoven, he lets sketching, making and material lead the way. Wood, bold colors, visible joints and unexpected details turn familiar forms into something distinctly his own.

Functional, intuitive and never too polished. Shown here are his Rocking Chair and Pink Cabinet, both made from birch plywood and oak.

Dutch Design, applied with pressure

As part of The Greatness of Dutch Design at The Gallery Rosewood Amsterdam, we celebrate the work of Floris Wubben. A designer The Frozen Fountain has worked closely with for more than a decade.

Moving between functional art and sculptural design, Wubben has developed a distinctive practice shaped by experimentation. In his studio, custom-built machines transform ceramics through extrusion and pressure, creating a play between precision and spontaneity.

Featuring the Duke Mini Coffee Table, Temple Planter & Dynamic XL, Stool Model 3 & 6, and a selection of Small Pressed Vases.

Shown here are works by Dirk van der Kooij and Claudy Jongstra, two Dutch makers with a strong connection to material and process.

Van der Kooij transforms reclaimed synthetics using self-developed machines and an experimental 3D-printing process, allowing the material to guide the form and leave visible traces of its making. Together, their work reflects an approach where craftsmanship, experimentation and material character connect.

Presented here are works by Marc Mulders and Piet Hein Eek, two Dutch makers with their own approach to material and making.

Mulders draws on nature, color and light, while Eek finds character in reclaimed materials and the traces they carry. What connects them is an instinctive way of working, allowing material and process to shape the final piece. Their work reflects the independent spirit at the heart of The Greatness of Dutch Design: where craftsmanship, character and individuality come together.

Complemented by the Silvester-collection, where a love affair with vintage scarves turns into something new. Dreamed up in Amsterdam by longtime friends Marianne van Dodewaard and Inge Schmitt, with an eye for colour, character and timeless style.

Featuring Marc Mulders, whose work moves between painting, watercolour, photography and stained glass, bringing art and craftsmanship into a natural dialogue. Nature, colour, light and spirituality have long shaped his practice, which has grown lighter, more colourful and more abstract since moving to the Baest estate.

With an evening glow 🌙

Our much-loved Marenco sofa by Arflex in green, paired with their wonderfully fluffy Botolo chair. The painting by Philippa Atkinson feels right at home, with a Piet Hein Eek coffee table and Shigeki Yamamoto’s colorful structures adding a bit of fun.
