12 unforgettable days in Río Cuarto, Argentina, full of making, sharing, learning and new friendships. And a new mosaic.
The Fictional Mineral
Natural stone, ceramic and glass
2026
I imagined a mineral that doesn’t exist: part amber, part coal.
Both materials are deeply connected to Poland, where I grew up: amber from the Baltic coast, coal from the south. They come from very different landscapes and histories, but in my imagination they became one material.
The work is about what places leave behind in us, a fragment of somewhere, carrying traces of places I have known and still carry.
Made during the International Mosaic Symposium in Río Cuarto, Argentina, curated by Giulio Menossi, around the theme “Traces, Anthropological Sediments.”
