The Echo side tables originated from my curiosity about what can happen with leftover material. While working on the Bogaerts Butler table collection, sheets of recycled plastic (.materials ) were left over, with half-round cutouts that revealed unexpectedly beautiful, organic shapes. Instead of seeing them as waste, I decided to use these shapes as the starting point for a new design. The Echo side tables originated from my curiosity about what can happen with leftover material. While working on the Bogaerts Butler table collection, sheets of recycled plastic were left over, with half-round cutouts that revealed unexpectedly beautiful, organic shapes. Instead of seeing them as waste, I decided to use these shapes as the starting point for a new design. This is how the Echo tables came to be, a project in which offcuts are given a second life.

The name Echo refers to how these forms continue to resonate: as a repetition, but with a new character. For me, they symbolize the balance between structure and movement, between what remains and what regains value. Each Echo table can only be made when leftover material from the recycled plastic Butler tabletops becomes available. As a result, the color palette is always different and depends on other ongoing productions. The tables cannot be made to order – they appear only when the material allows, and are available in the limited stock that results from this process.

For interior design studio , bogaerts supplied several tables that we call our Butlers. In the Urban Hub project for ERM, Butler Alfred and Butler Mr. Carson serve their purpose well—both as tables and through their material use. Executed in cream white with recycled textile tops from Kvadrat, they fit seamlessly within ERM’s circular ambitions. Provided with a material QR Tag on each product, visitors can locate the supplier of the product.
