Why the Black Pigeon?
When learning about our company, the inevitable question always arises: Why the Black Pigeon? The story began when we spotted a Black Pigeon on the office balcony while brainstorming for the startup’s name. Despite our ongoing pigeon problems, we paused to wonder—where do Black Pigeons come from? While some pigeons have natural dark pigments, most Black Pigeons today have developed due to pollution in urban areas. This fascinating adaptation highlights how the environment affects wildlife, not just in the wild but in our cities too. Did you know there are an estimated 1 million Black Pigeons worldwide? 🌍 This realization inspired us to focus on sustainability and conscious design.
Fast forward two years, and this is a reflection of our journey. 🕊️ At The Black Pigeon, we transform recycled plastic bottles into 95% recycled plastic pellets, which we use in the extrusion process for 3D printing filaments via comoanies in the Netherlands. These filaments enable us to create unique designs, like our beautiful vases, giving new life to waste materials while reducing landfill and incineration. Every vase not only serves as an art piece but also as a home for a new plant 🌱, extending the material's lifecycle and promoting a greener future.
Every print is carefully crafted, tailored to our customers, and designed to bring a touch of elegance to your home. 🖤 As part of our Monochrome Collection, we currently offer designs in monochrome colors, but if you're looking for something more custom, send us a DM, and we’ll make it happen!
Thank you to everyone who has supported The Black Pigeon from the very beginning. Here are some of our favorite designs, now featured on our webshop! 🕊️
