A Quartet against Food Waste
A few weeks back, our Cibus Domus Quartet was featured in De Gelderlander — such a lovely article about our food-waste-fighting card game and the research behind it. 🃏💚

The piece even brought visitors to our DDW presentation, newspaper clipping in hand — moments like that make all the long days worth it!

You can now order the Cibus Domus Quartet via our webshop (€17,50) — a playful way to learn how to keep your food fresh longer and waste less.

🥦 Week tegen Voedselverspilling
This week in the Netherlands is the National Week Against Food Waste — a good moment to pause and look at our own habits.

For us, it all started quite small: with a single wrinkled bell pepper.
(Well… the umpteenth one, really.)

Despite all our good intentions, we still found ourselves throwing food away.
That frustration led us to dive deeper into the biology of ripening, the ideal ways to store fruit and vegetables, and the routines that shape how we deal with food in daily life.

Along the way, we learned just how big the problem really is:
- Nearly 1/3 of all food produced worldwide never gets eaten
- That’s over 1 billion meals wasted every day
- Food waste causes 8–10% of global CO₂ emissions — five times more than the entire aviation sector
- And over half of all food waste happens in our homes

💡 The good news: if it happens in our kitchens, that’s where we can change it 💪

We’ve put together 9 practical tips to help reduce food waste — small everyday habits that can make a real difference.
