“𝗦𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆, 𝗺𝘆 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝘁…” 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿?

Many internationals are learning Dutch but putting it into practice can feel intimidating. What if you make a mistake? What if the other person switches to English? Or what if you simply don’t know the right words yet?

That’s exactly why Praat Nederlands Day takes place on 26 November 2026. Rotterdam International Center is proud to support this national initiative alongside 8 other international centers across the Netherlands. Our goal is to create more opportunities to practice Dutch, learn from one another and show that you don’t need to be fluent to start a conversation. Whether you’re just learning your first words or already having everyday conversations in Dutch: every step counts.

Our challenge to you: invite someone who you think should join our activities in Dutch!

Keep an eye out on our website for our program: https://www.rotterdam.info/en/internationals/agenda/praat-nederlands-day-2026

For international employees, navigating a new workplace can come with an extra layer of uncertainty:

- How is feedback usually given here?
- Is it normal to disagree with your manager?
- What does “you’re doing well” actually mean?

Small moments in everyday leadership can have a bigger impact when someone is still learning the culture around them.

Led by Irene Anggreeni, PhD, MA, a mental fitness coach, trainer, TEDx speaker and an international herself, this three-part workshop series helps leaders, HR professionals, People & Culture teams and L&D professionals create more inclusive and mentally healthy international workplaces.

📆 Practical information and registration:

🗳️ Did you know? You may be able to vote in Rotterdam’s upcoming city council elections.

On 18 March 2026, municipalities across the Netherlands will hold local elections, including Rotterdam. And you don’t need Dutch nationality to take part.
✔️ EU citizens can vote if registered in Rotterdam.
✔️ Non-EU citizens can vote if they’ve lived legally in the Netherlands for 5 consecutive years and are registered.

Why does this matter? City council decisions shape the city you live and work in, from housing and mobility to sustainability and the international business climate. Voting gives you a say in how Rotterdam continues to develop as a welcoming, future-focused international city.
