Long, clear lengths in walnut are rare. The tree grows with branches and character throughout, so a straight run at this scale has to be searched for, not simply ordered.

For an OTOKO table at 3.80 meters, we order boards at 4.25. The extra length allows us to cut away the cracking that naturally occurs at the ends of a walnut plank, without losing an inch of the finished top. On top of that, we order double the volume needed, giving us the range to select boards on grain and colour first. A few knots remain, walnut at this length carries them, but nothing here was left to chance.

What you see here is the result of that selection, before and after the choice was made.

This solid walnut dining table now shows what the lacquer was always going to reveal.

Matte and pale straight from the workshop, the same wood now sits in full contrast, grain catching light differently across every board. Delivered this week to an interior specified by .interiors.

The wengé crosses at the panel joints remain the same, a construction detail that was never meant to be hidden.

Before the lacquer, this is what walnut looks like when it is still deciding what it wants to be.

Two wengé crosses mark where the panels meet, the connection made visible instead of hidden.

At 3.80 by 1.10 meters, this is walnut with real presence, made to these exact proportions. Every Otoko is shaped to fit its own space. Right now the surface is dry and matte. The lacquer will not add shine, only bring forward what the wood already carries, the depth and contrast that give the grain its full weight.

Every ØDE table starts with a decision like this one.

Before a plank becomes part of a design, someone has to read it. The grain. The structure. How it will move when the humidity changes. Whether it will hold the joint the way it needs to.

That knowledge does not come from a catalogue. It comes from a workshop that has been working wood since 1754. Not as a furniture maker, but as a craftsman in restoration. Windows, doors, frames for historical buildings where the wood has to perform for generations.

We make our tables in that same workshop. With those same hands. The result is furniture built by people who understand wood at a level most furniture production never reaches.
No veneers. No shortcuts. The material you see in the finished table is the material that was chosen at this moment.

Ukiyo. A Japanese word for floating world.

Living in the moment. Light. Unburdened.

The Ukiyo X is our first oval table. Solid walnut, four tapered legs at the corners, no centre support. Seen from table height, the top appears to hover above the base.

The name is not a metaphor. It is a description.

The De Stijl coffee table exists in two forms.

130 × 70, at 25 cm height. Low, wide, floor-close. A table that anchors a room.

70 × 70, at 35 cm height. Compact, composed. A table that sits beside things.

Both in solid walnut. Both made to order. Both available in a size that is entirely your own.

We usually produce De Stijl in walnut.
But in oak, the design takes on a completely different character.

Lighter. Softer. More understated.
The same architectural composition and refined joinery, seen through a calmer material expression.
