A project very close to my heart 🤎

This residential project in Amstelveen was a complete transformation from the ground up. The house originally felt very white and clinical, and my vision was to turn it into a warm,l and soulful home filled with texture, atmosphere and materials carrying a story.

The entire design was fully custom-made : first completely developed in 3D, followed by detailed renders and visualizations before ex*****on started. Almost everything was separately produced piece by piece — from steel to glass to custom details — and eventually brought together on location together with my contractor and our constuctuin team from Poland

For this project i worked together with ,a leading luxury interior brand known for its bespoke leather wall coverings, acoustic solutions, and high-end craftsmanship.

And a little detail: this video is a small part of the Dutch television program Design Secrets on SBS6, where I was followed as an interior designer during the realization of several projects.

Design, for me, is never only about aesthetics.
It’s about creating spaces that make people feel something. It’s art, handcraft, a whole imaginaire world.

A little throwback to a project from Spain and a fragment from Design Secrets ☀️🇪🇸

In this fragment I’m showing how I brought my sketches and concepts to life through 3D visualisation. This was around 3 years ago — long before AI became what it is today — but I was already working extensively with programs like Lumion to create realistic visual renders of my interior concepts.

For me, this always added so much value to the design process. Not just beautiful images, but a way to truly communicate atmosphere, materials, lighting and the feeling of a space before it was even built. What I loved most was that the final result in reality almost always matched the visualisations exactly.

It allowed clients to really step inside the design before construction even started — almost like walking through the future of the space.

This project will always stay special to me because it reflects the combination of creativity, storytelling, technical design and emotion that I love bringing into interiors. ✨

Some of my favorite projects were never only about design… but about the people behind them.

In my previous post you saw the end result of a sushi bar-restaurant in the southern part of Spain. In this reel I’ll share the meeting behind the project.

This fragment was filmed during one of my visits to Spain, where I sat together with Francisco — the incredible craftsman behind the custom-made seating of this restaurant project. Even though we never fully spoke the same language, somehow we always understood each other through creativity, sketches, materials, gestures and passion for the craft.

And honestly… Francisco always says I ask the impossible from them 😆
The curves, the shapes, the details… thinking outside the standard ways of production. But somehow, every single time, they still manage to create something even more beautiful than we initially imagined. And that’s exactly what I love so much about craftsmanship.

Sometimes we believe something is “too difficult” simply because it hasn’t been done before. But the moment people dare to step outside the expected lines, entirely new creations become possible. I think that’s where the magic happens .. not only in design, but also in life itself.

In the next fragment, I’ll take you behind the scenes in the Netherlands to visit Bart Bresser Bloemen, where we discussed the ceiling greenery and the natural atmosphere layer within the concept 🌿

Some spaces are not designed from trends, but from a story, a shape and a feeling that slowly grows into an experience.

For this sushi restaurant in the south of Spain, the entire concept was inspired by the movement and geometry of the ammonite shell — something you can subtly recognize throughout the interior in the flowing lines, curves and layering of the space. Especially within the custom-made seating, where the linework almost moves like a natural sculpture through the restaurant itself.

Everything inside this project was developed with a focus on craftsmanship (for me that’s important), atmosphere and detail. The upholstery of the seating was fully handmade in Spain, specifically created to follow the organic forms of the design and bring softness into the space.

And honestly, looking back, this was also one of the most hectic periods within my interior architecture career… At that time I was simultaneously running four large-scale projects : all highly detailed, almost fully custom-made and largely managed by myself from concept development to production.

It was an intense period where creativity, pressure, problem-solving and passion all came together at the same time. That’s why I’m even more happy to share finally the end result 🥹

Special thanks to my lovely suppliers ❤️🙏🏽 :
For the coves with beautiful natural stones and crystals I collaborated with , together with , who helped bring different elements of the concept into reality: for example the lightened bar wall with bottles. The ceiling greenery was created together with , adding another natural layer to the atmosphere of the restaurant.

During this period, the Dutch television program Design Secrets followed and recorded several of my interior projects and creative processes behind the scenes.

Is modular building part of the future? 🏗️

Over the years I’ve spent a lot of time researching and developing modular concepts within hospitality and residential design. What fascinated me most was the possibility of approaching both existing architecture and new construction in a more flexible, efficient and experience-driven way.

In this fragment from the Dutch television program Design Secrets (SBS6), I shared part of the vision behind one of the modular concepts I worked on during that phase of my career.

What I personally found most interesting about modular building was never only speed or efficiency : but the possibility to think differently about how people live, travel and experience spaces. More adaptable, more sustainable and more connected to changing lifestyles and environments.

I still believe there is enormous potential in modular thinking, especially within hospitality, tourism, nature concepts and future ways of living.

For this project we worked with the beautiful reclaimed wood wall panels by , a company known for transforming salvaged wood into artistic surfaces full of texture, history and character. The materials immediately brought warmth and soul into the space.

The custom steel doors were created by , specialists in refined steel craftsmanship and minimalistic custom-made interior solutions. Their work helped create openness and connection between the spaces while keeping the atmosphere elegant and calm.
