Thank you to all of you who jumped on the ride and took the time to vote for me as People’s Artist in this unusual competition. Going into it, I had no idea how controversial it would become here on Social Media; and after reading several commentaries about it I chose to ride it out without encouraging any financial donations to the organization sponsoring it. Despite that, those who supported my entry and came back every day to vote helped me get into the third round, and that’s pretty cool! I know that trying to win $25000 was a real long shot; but hey, sometimes you just need to take a chance and jump.
It was fun while it lasted, and if it got my name out there a little farther than it was before, then that’s great too.
You’re all fantastic followers, and for that I’m extremely grateful. Stay tuned for new work coming down the pipe and some more exhibitions and markets I hope to be participating in this summer.

All dioramas will be professionally photographed for the participants. Spent the afternoon down at GradEx 111 at OCAD (Ontario Collage of Art and Design) in support of and visiting ; and bumping into ! — Discovering the fabulous work of and also. The two paintings seen in this reel are part of Freda’s series entitled ‘Perpetual Becoming’. Check out the profiles of all three emerging artists for gathering hope about the future of Canadian art.
Oh, and my black and white studio portrait gives a nod to World Collage Day!

Happy World Collage Day! Saturday, May 9 marks an annual event that celebrates the art of collage. Developed in the early 20th century by artists like Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, often referred to as papiers collés (pasted papers), collage has become a popular genre in the world of contemporary art. But today it can be created both in analogue and digital form. created World Collage Day in 2018; and it’s now celebrated every year on the second Saturday in May.
Collage is a technique of art creation, primarily in the visual arts, where various materials—such as photographs, fabric, paper, and found objects—are arranged and glued onto a support.
Here’s a variety from some of my own 2026 creations.

Cherry blossom time in Toronto’s
It was the perfect afternoon and so much fun to bump into while shooting photos. Does anyone work any more? It was packed. I can’t even imagine how crowded it must have been on the weekend!

A while back, I took a chance and submitted images from my frozen bubble photography series to this contest supported by Johnny Depp. Well… so far it has paid off! I got selected to be part of the next round of the process. Now, I need your votes. Voting starts tomorrow (Monday, May4). The opening reception for an exhibit from at Lampton House was held Saturday night. The exhibit is entitled ‘Journeys: Movement, Migration, and Memories’. It’s open until the end of May and can be seen as part of World Collage Day, May 9; and Doors Open Toronto, May 23 & 24. I have one piece in this exhibit with a strong artist statement. ‘We Never Forget Where We Came From’.
If you’ve never really thought about the power of collage or its rightful place in the world of art, this is a good place to start. Thank you to for her curation of this show and her strong dedication to collage art.

Today’s opening reception was well attended and the photos in the show are inspirational. The show is part of festival, and it runs from now till May 24. Try to stop by if you have the chance.
