As always, KOLPA identifies about to be disappearing skills and traditions, and encourages craftsman to continue working on those skills so that new generation feels confident and hopeful about its future.
Out of many, our DALY (day lee) basket is one of them. Traditionally, it is used to keep fishes. Fisherman tied this basket around their waist so that they will have their two hands free while fishing. You will find 2 to 3 loop inserts on one side where belts go through.
Now, as traditional fishing is a rare event, use of DALY basket is slowly declining thereby putting skills in dire straits. So we stepped up and started weaving these. Now, you will find various sizes DALY baskets as kitchen organizer, planter baskets and office desk organizer.
We are glad to share with you that this tradition of weaving DALY basket from sustainable materials won't disappear now. Instead, we will be working with new generations making this product for years to come.
