Green Tara is the compassionate female Buddha, known as the Mother of Liberation. She represents active compassion, protection, and swift help in times of fear and difficulty. Her green color symbolizes life energy, growth, healing, and renewal.
Green Tara is shown seated with one leg extended, ready to rise instantly to help devotees—this posture shows her promise to respond quickly to prayers. Her right hand is in the gesture of giving (varada mudra), blessing with protection, courage, and fulfillment of wishes. She is believed to protect from the Eight Great Fears—fear of pride, ignorance, anger, jealousy, attachment, doubt, poverty, and harmful forces. Devotees pray to Green Tara for success, safe journeys, removal of obstacles, inner peace, and spiritual growth.
