What's flowering: September issue
Firstly Happy Birthday to our Queen Jane 👑

Here's what's bursting with blooms right now 🌸🌺🌻

🌸 Prunus Campanulata Felix Jury
One of the first flowering cherry trees to flower, and the bright pink flowers do not disappoint!

🌸 Michelia Princess Isabella
This evergreen hedge plant is absolutely covered in fragrant white flowers!

🌺 Rhododendron Kaponga
Nice and compact this Rhodo grows to 2M and gets smothered in rich red flowers

🪷Magnolia Water Lily
A deciduous magnolia that bursts into life with frilly white flowers

🌺 Magnolia Strawberry fields
A deciduous magnolia that puts on an incredible show of strawberry coloured flowers

🌳 Ornamental Pear - Pyrus Calleryana Bradford
One of the first deciduous trees to come into leaf in spring and it brings with its petite white flowers

Do you want big hydrangea limelight blooms?
Here are our tips for growing massive hydrangea flowers this summer.

We are pruning Hydrangea Paniculata "Limelight" - this variety flowers on new wood.

✅1. Trim away all the dead flowers - deadhead 💀
This will help you see what you are working with.

✅2. Trim all the ropey twiggy branches from last year
If these aren't trimmed they will produce new branches and smaller flowers. The less the plant is trying to grow the more energy it can send to make massive blooms.

✅3. Trim away any branches that are crossing over
This creates more airflow and supports a healthy season, avoid infections and mildew.

We are going to hold off fertilising these until the new growth starts to appear to ensure we don't waste fertiliser.

CJs Style Miscanthus Trimming!
Does anyone else feel like they just charged their Makita New Zealand batteries?!?
It's ideal to trim your Miscanthus in late winter / early spring, before the new shoots start appearing. Our dry garden is rather sheltered so ours Miscanthus has started to shoot up already, so we are going to trim back to 25-30CM and pluck out any dead grass to avoid any rot.
We like to tie ours up for ease of trimming and it's easier to clean up.

Jane was feeling super nostalgic and we ordered some of our childhood favourite fruits! We've got Royal Gala & Granny Smith Apples, Black Doris & Black Boy Peach plus some lovely dwarf peaches!

We're trimming our Sedum Autumn Joys with our new Lowe Anvil cutters! It's like butter 🤤🧈🔪
Now the sedum autumn joy crown is starting to produce new growth we are going to trim off last seasons flowers! This will increase the light exposure and give the new florets more space to bush out.
It's also a great time to divide if you want additional plants!
