🐓 POULTRY PEN UPGRADES 🦆

With the spring weather putting on some cracking weather, I’ve been head down, powering through some property upgrades. Goodbye crappy duck pond!

The poultry pen has long been on our list, but with varying opinions on how to form a practical permanent set up for these guys, we’ve pushed back this project every season.

Anyone who owns ducks knows it’s a constant battle trying to stop them making a mud pit and trying to keep their water sources clean……

So, I’ve converted a clamshell pool into a practical duck pond set up. I’ve plumbed in a sink basket and plug into the base, which leads out to a back up valve which allows for the pond to be gravity drained off into our hedgeline…..making pond cleaning and refilling a breeze and sends the water elsewhere.

The pond is nestled on a home made soak pit, and the wide diameter of the river stones surrounding the pond stops the ducks dropping mouthfuls of dirt into the water.

Bordered with grasses to help absorb moisture and create a more enriched environment - I’m thrilled with how this DIY project has turned out 🤌🏼

Next stop 🛑 Permanent Fencing 🙌🏼

That’s a wrap on today’s dahlia tuber sale! What an incredible turn out in today’s conditions down at The Farmstand.

We’ve packed up the crates but you can now find a selection of tubers down at The Farmstand for purchase.

We’ve got a couple of each variety available roadside but, if you’re after larger quantities, just reach out!

The beauty of upgrading The Farmstand this season is that we can adapt when the weather changes, simply closing the doors, rather than shutting down shop.
