Fresh, homegrown peas taste so sweet its hard to believe!

If you've only ever had store bought peas then sure they are sweet, mild, and pleasant enough. But when you pop a plump, garden-fresh pea straight from the vine into your mouth, its completely different, its like a burst of freshness!

Fresh homegrown peas are so much sweeter and more flavourful than anything you'll find in a grocery store because they’ve had all the time they need to develop their natural sweetness. Whereas supermarket peas are often picked early then refrigerated or frozen, which diminishes their flavour and texture.

Peas grow pretty quickly, are low maintenance and productive. They're a great cool season crop for the home garden and can be grown in all climates.

Once they start producing pick your peas regularly (e.g. every few days) to prolong flowering and extend your harvests. There's nothing like the crisp, sweet delight of fresh homegrown peas!

Are you going to grow your own peas this autumn? Fresh pea seeds are available on our website now 🌱

Do you love celery? Why not try growing your own? Here are some handy tips to know before you plant 👇

❄️ Climate:
Celery loves cool weather, so get sowing some seeds now ready for autumn. Ideal temps for growing is 15–21°C, as too much heat leads to bitter stalks.

🌞 Light:
Full sun is best, but it appreciates light shade when its grown in hotter climates.

🌱 Soil:
Rich, well-draining soil with lots of organic matter is preferred. Celery is a heavy feeder, so don’t skimp on compost.

💧 Water:
Consistent moisture is critical. Celery has shallow roots so aim to never let it dry out.

🌿 Spacing:
Celery needs adequate room to grow, so space your plants about 30cm apart for thick, healthy stalks.

✂️ Harvesting:
Cut celery stalks from the outside and enjoy as needed, or harvest the whole plant once mature.

Remember that stress leads to stringy celery, while happy healthy plants produce crisp delicious stalks.

Did you know all of our seed packets are home compostable and high barrier?

This means they will not only protect your seeds for as long as possible, but they are also kind to the natural environment, breaking down quickly once they’re finished with and not hanging around forever like harsh plastic packaging.

They’re designed and printed in house by us, and manufactured right here in NZ which is awesome. We love supporting fellow kiwi businesses.

Sowing tips are included on the back of every packet so you can make the most of what you sow, no matter how experienced you are.

You can even reseal our packets by carefully running a hot iron or similar along the opened end, then safely saving them away in your cupboard (or freezer) to keep them safe until they are next needed.

Happy growing 😊🌱💚

Pineapple Tomatillo is a delicious rare fruit that tastes very sweet similar to pineapple with a hint of tartness.

It thrives in full sun and produces an abundance of fruit on short spreading vines.

They make an excellent addition to fruit salads, paired with ice cream, or for making jams and chutneys.

Like Cape Gooseberries (but not the same), the fruits themselves are individually encased in a husk that starts green but turns papery and brown once the fruits are ready to eat. As they ripen the Tomatillos will turn a golden orange colour.

Fast growing and highly rewarding. You can learn more and order seeds here:
