Massive attendance at the member's group show opening last Friday of 'Word' exhibition, with 89 art pieces wonderfully curated by Carlos and a room full of marvellous art lovers people! It was great fun that Emma and Brenn were able to join me this time around, and to show one of the three pieces we did with Carlos Vano from Upstairs Gallery✨

Excited to be part of this! ✨

Our first group exhibition of 2026 is based on the theme of ‘Word’. We are celebrating the connection of visual art to writing. We have many artists who blur the lines of these art practices. This exhibition is an invitation to utilize a word or words to produce artworks. Opening this Friday, 8 May, 6pm to 7:30pm. On show 8 May to 31 May. Everyone is welcome!

The September issue of The Fringe is now available to read online at www.fringemedia.co.nz. Physical deliveries will start in the next day or so. The deadline for advertising bookings for our October issue is September 13, and we always welcome editorial submissions ... (Feel free to share this post.)

A view from under the waters. Looking up at floating water lilies ( one flower facing forward, the other backward) with water ripples at the top and lily pads on the horizon line.

This is a new work called “Water garden” / “Jardin des eaux” in French.

The creative process was super interesting, the artwork kept evolving, the leaves twirling in different directions, the flower becoming more and more 3D like if they wanted to stand out from the background to the point they wanted to stand up on their own...

I had a try at a couple of miniature scenes the last few weeks:
a water lily pond ( and you will get your own reflection in the water effect from the glass 🤣✨)
