The Rug Company was founded in 1997 with the aim of creating the most beautiful rugs in the world. The concept was simple but pioneering: to combine the ancient craft of rug-making with dazzling contemporary designs. We are obsessive about good design, always striving to innovate and inspire with our own collections. We also work with the pick of the world’s design talent, adding to their creative brilliance our expert knowledge of rugs. We truly understand the unique heritage and significance of traditional rug artisanship. Our weavers craft the rugs entirely by hand, using the very same techniques as their ancestors. Our raw materials are naturally luxurious and are handled with such care that they lose none of their extraordinary properties throughout the production process. The result is a rug that is a unique piece of art and made to last a lifetime.

Portico’s redrawing boundaries.

A nod to the clean, chiselled lines of Doric columns, Portico Birch by The Rug Company lays down a luminous frame. Graduating in a single hue, parallel lines form a border adding sartorial detail to a room.

Bid farewell to sharp corners because Arc’s rewriting the rules. Framing silk lines trace the rug’s curved edges, each a flow of graduating mineral green, fluid as the curve it follows.

The secret to unstudied style is playing with proportion, and Doma by The Rug Company has it in spades. Borrowing from the sweeping lines of classic arches, Doma’s bas-relief border holds court, embracing every piece placed within its frame.

Introducing Ground Rules by

Life is a work of art. Ground Rules frames the focus with five distinct border styles inspired by architectural elements. Sweeping arches, graduated layers and fluid curves orchestrate any room they call home.

Here, at Villa Borsani, designed by Italian architect and designer Osvaldo Borsani, his mid-century lines meet the collection’s own, as though destined.
