The new furnACE Native Bird Wall Art collection is now live.

First up: the Fiordland Crested Penguin / Tawaki.

Each piece is designed, cut, stained, assembled and framed by hand in our Helensville workshop. Built in three layers of walnut-stained birch, crisp white acrylic and grey-stained timber, then finished in a solid macrocarpa frame.

This is a new direction for furnACE: more depth, more detail, and a proper collection celebrating some of Aotearoa’s incredible native birds.

For every Native Bird Wall Art piece sold, we set aside $2 for quarterly donations supporting New Zealand native-bird conservation.

The tawaki is unlike any other penguin in the range of New Zealand wildlife: a crested bird of surf, steep coast and rainforest. After months in the workshop, furnACE is open.
Everything I make is designed, cut and hand-finished by me, here in Helensville. Real NZ native timber, our own birds, made for real Kiwi homes. No imported stock, no mass production.

What is furnACE?

It started as an idea in my workshop.

I grew up around timber - my father was a master woodworker, and I've been crafting wood since I was six years old. Fifty years later, furnACE is what that experience looks like.

I wanted to create something different. Not mass-produced, but properly made. Something people would pick up, look at twice, and actually want in their home.

Every piece is designed and built right here in Helensville, New Zealand. I handle everything - from the original design through to the final finish.

Still early days. But this is just the beginning.
