We were really grateful to work with these clients again — this time reimagining their new home around how they truly live.
After purchasing this elevated home overlooking the water, it quickly became clear the original layout wasn’t quite working. Their favourite place to sit and enjoy the sun was the old dining room, leaving the kitchen feeling disconnected from the heart of the home. What began as a plan to work within the existing footprint soon evolved into a full reconfiguration — relocating the kitchen into the former lounge and transforming the original laundry into a hardworking butler’s pantry and laundry zone.
The result is a complete transformation through spatial rethinking alone — moving from a smaller glossy white kitchen to a more generous, grounded space that now connects beautifully to the architecture and the view.
At the centre sits a sculptural island in Quartzite Sea Pearl, selected for its natural movement and veining, resting over custom oak cabinetry finished in a rich walnut stain. Behind it, a working bench in 4mm stainless steel plate introduces a quiet industrial strength, with negative detailing that subtly highlights the precision and craftsmanship within the material.
Warmth is carried through the oak joinery, with thin, custom profiling adding depth and texture without heaviness. Overhead, Melteca Green Slate cabinetry softens the palette, drawing in tones from the surrounding landscape and grounding the space in something calm and natural.
The stainless sink paired with brushed copper tapware adds a subtle richness, lifting the material palette with warmth and contrast.
In the supporting zones, the butler’s pantry and laundry shift into a more functional rhythm with Melteca Raw Cotton cabinetry and Trendstone New Lily White benchtops — soft, practical, and durable. Full-height storage in the laundry maximises every inch, while the butler’s pantry is designed for real life: generous, hidden, and highly functional, with a bifold pantry, under-bench microwave, and ample prep space.
The final result feels beautifully rebalanced — more considered, more functional, and deeply connected to how the home is lived in every day, while maintaining a calm, elevated material palette.
