Back into second term of Weaving Raranga Wānanga at

So far have made Braclets; Fish and Stars. 2wks ago I actually help our Kaioko to teach how to make the Ika after I learnt at home to make them.

I was asked to make 11 Braclets and 11 Ika for our Kōhanga to gift to Kaioko who were graduating. I had attempted to make a star couple weeks ago but didnt quite get the hang of it. Do need to relearn and practice the Putiputi, Rose and Koru again.

Whilst I wait for official photos to be released at some stage; thought I would share a couple of photos from mine and my sister's graduation last week in Whakatāne from Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.

An incredibly long day for my kōtiro! For everyone I think. It was so special seeing all the kura on our hīkoi through town performing for us.

Being in my Grandmother's h9me town and visiting my tūpuna graves was special toom I haven't been down for 16yrs. Not only this being able to get some whakapapa information for my daughter from her extended whānau so she can stand up at Kōhanga and say her pepeha finally (less one if her 3 iwi).

Also special feeling that the first Marae she has officially entered into (she has been on the grounds and outside of a few) just so happened to be her late God Mother's Koro's Marae. She was never far from my mind being back down "home"

Cutting out the panels ready to make Go Bags and Bonding Squares for Middlemore Foundation. But these won't be completed until after I have done my mahi for Kōhanga which is making 112 sheets for our beds.

Find it easier to cut everything out ready first before starting mass sewing projects where I can just bang them out in a production line.

Another ANZAC Day without my Nana.

I think of her daily.

I wonder where her beautiful Singer Sewing went to and her craft items when she passed.

I think of all the things she made over the decades. The things her namesake misses out on having made for her. As her dad said when I had a tangi about it whilst Hapu sorting clothes out; that it was ok she had heirlooms. I hold that close to my heart.

Every item i repair or make I think of my nana; of all my tūpuna and the skills passed down.

Gone but never forgotten 💔

40 sets (miscounted in my stories) Bonding Squares ready to send off to

I try to give myself balance this year between my sewing for them and my own personal sewing then my mahi for Kōhanga.

Waiting for supplies to arrive to sew sheets up for Kōhanga so in the mean time sewing kākahu for my kōtiro and then my charity items.

Hari Aranga! 🐣

I will always love this thrifted plate and milk bottle that I made into an Easter Plate for Rāpeti Aranga. I made a matching one for Hana Koko as well.

Yes brought into a bit of commercialism but keeping some whimsical and magic for my little one is important. Seeing the pure joy on her face and excitement was worth it.

We are well into our Barbie Era here!

Also love our Kōhanga! These were the Aranga (Easter) gifts our Tamariki got from their kaioko. They all made their own special designs for their roopu.

And my kōtiro finally has her own Sock Monkey. She took them both. She loves the one I made my nana some years ago and bee lines for it every time she visits.

I definitely dont plan on getting back into making these again though.
