Yesterday's Run... 8km long run.
Long run done! Running for Foundation. Training for 11km traverse at the Run Auckland event on the 1st of November 2026. 8km done. I would say this was a slow social run as I paused to chat to people I knew, a tried to keep a gentle pace. The thing with a slow run and being a slow runner it takes longer to get to the distance goal. So I was out there moving for 1.5 hrs. That’s a lot of exercise! I enjoyed this run as it was part trail run part road and part park. It had a bit of elevation and a bit of flat which is good for training. It was pretty wild weather wise - wind is very strong and it’s showers too so I felt like I ran into all weather. - I need to start wearing a hat and sunscreen! One thing I did notice was that I felt a bit sluggish today and I know I didn’t fuel my run properly. I need to plan to eat an hour before setting out to maintain energy. I think that about sums it up.

This is not knitting related, but it is a bit about me and what I am training for! On Sunday the 1st November I will be running the Auckland 11km traverse as part of the 2026 Runaway Auckland event. The name Windborne came from the idea of going where the wind takes me.
I wanted this design to have a little connection to my Celtic Ancestors, while still feeling like something I would reach for on an ordinary winter day here in New Zealand.
The result is Windborne Beanie — a textured, cabled knit that I’m really pleased to finally share.
