"We Grow In The Shade" is my most ambitious beaded creation, a portrayal of flowers thriving in low-light settings. The distinction between craft and fine art has long intrigued me. When your work falls within the gray area between fine art and domestic craft, or between fine art and home decor, it raises questions about the perceived value of your work. Must you employ a special fertilizer to legitimize your craft as art? Whose approval must you gain to transition from an artist on WINZ to an artist who wins? Does it truly matter in the end? These are the questions I contemplate, visualized through beaded flowers with their tenacity to push through the gaps in old bricks, striving to catch even a glimpse of that warm sunlight, however elusive it may be.

You can view this work in Tauranga as part of a group exhibition on this week as part of the , curated by and Fiona Menzies. 👄

ABOUT THE SHOW:
Have you ever noticed how the most meaningful conversations often occur late at night, when, after a few drinks and a delightful meal, the barriers come down, and you're free to discuss the things that truly matter?

"A SEAT AT THE TABLE" is an immersive exhibition that invites you to do just that - take a seat and engage in conversations about the profound questions in art and life.

You can see the work of Nephi Tupaea, Denise Porter-Howland, Turumeke Hamilton, Tracy Keith, Elliot Mason, Devyn Ormsby, Victoria McIntosh, Tessa Russell, and me at the corner of Willow and Spring St, from 10 am to 4 pm daily during the Tauranga Arts Festival. Admission is free.

Thank you Rose & Fiona x

Hello, hi! I’m still on holiday but I just had to pop on and say Happy New Year to all of you who turned up here overnight 🥹😍🫣🥰💜🌟🥂💅

My vases are completely bare after Christmas but I intend to fill them with an array of botanicals including more of these delphiniums soon.

What varieties would you like to see?

Restock by the end of Jan x
