I couldn’t come 20,000 kms and not visit my color muse 🥳 Thankyou Louisa for opening up on a drizzly Sunday for me 🙏 It was a buzz ### it’s not just about colours and fun and self-expression but about what each colour represents, it’s back story, and how two colours together can capture a moment, a memory, even a flavor or a smell.

Thanks to my new scarf it’s the colours of Sherbet and Crab that sum up today 🤎🧡

Banquette seating. I became a fan when it proved itself as more than a passing trend ; ) it’s not surprising that this approach to communal seating is here to stay. Banquette seating encourages togetherness & slow eating. It can be an alternative place to work. A comfortable spot to sit and read or write. And the design options are endless - consider:

The foundations - are they wood, paint, does the colour blend or contrast with the floor, does the structure float or sit grounded and solid…

The shapes - are they curved and soft or triangular and exact, do they evoke comfort, minimalism or timelessness…

The upholstery - is it practical and familiar, or regal and plush, what’s the colours and textures and shape of the fabric and cushions, loose or structured…

How do you feel about routines?

Do you take them on holiday with you?

I started pondering this a few years back and recently realised my relationship with the word ‘routine’ has changed

I used to loathe routine. I viewed it as a constraint on creativity. Yet without it, I would wander all over the place.

Now, I have what’s called my ‘longevity rituals’, which go everywhere with me ☺️. They are a group of activities that keep me anchored yet free.

I like them so much that they’ve even been on holiday with me twice this year and weren’t a downer!

In fact, they helped me enjoy the break even more.

And for the curious, my longevity rituals are:
Twice daily Vedic meditation, including morning asanas (stretching)
Followed by morning pages (journaling)
Abayunga (self-massage)
And a walk with a friend

Sometimes, I hit the jackpot and wake up early enough to do them all. Some days, it’s just 20 Minutes of meditation.

Finding the sweet spot has taken years of experimenting and curiosity, and it’s ever-evolving.

This is your nudge to put yourself first and befriend some rituals that bring ease to your days and holidays 😘
