Some features tell a story...

They’re worth preserving, not just for character, but because they connect a home to its history. This board and batten panelling is original to the house on a renovation project I worked on, and the owner wanted it kept.

It’s a balance, deciding what stays because it has character and history, and what gets replaced because it no longer works with the overall design concept. Getting that balance right is what makes a renovation feel considered rather than redone.

Friday Fave…

This week’s favourite find is a fabric and wallpaper collection by Anna Spiro which is all about colour and pattern.

Anna presented her new collection to us this week at Warwick Fabrics and explained the inspiration behind them. Drawing from her love of colour and patterns she’s a master of putting together combinations of these gorgeous fabrics and wallpaper that are fun and vibrant and look amazing together.

This ensuite started as a spare bedroom…

Originally only one bathroom, the client brief included an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe in the master bedroom. The spare bedroom next door was used to create both.

Green subway tiles, caramel toned walls, and a textured wood vanity carry the Scandinavian feel through from the rest of the house.

Three things worth sorting first...

It’s not just about how a space looks, it’s about how it works…

The original layout of this home had the kitchen tucked into the back left corner of the living room, creating a disconnect from the rest of the living and dining. Repositioning the kitchen and dining closer to the back of the house and adding a window and sliding doors out to the deck make the whole area feel more open, and the layout now makes sense for how the space is used day-to-day.
