Coming up THIS WEEKEND!
Spaces have filled up over the past few months, but this is the final shout out to any knitters who want to join our studio retreat in Christchurch.

The retreat will run from 10am 23 October till 5pm 25 October.
Lunch will be organized with three breaks each day, allowing for an optimal pace to learn and enjoy the weekend. The entire event is hosted at the Studio, offsite from Get Flocked, details to be provided upon booking.
Each day will have a theme meant to help us improve all our knitting and learn systems to help us manage and improve our knitting without needing to know everything all the time.

The weekend will also feature special appearances from our lovely local Christchurch community, as time allows, with their incredible depth of experience added to our time together we will leave even more enriched.

Please come with a project in mind and an initial swatch(es) unblocked for day 1. Think big and pick something you really want to knit and love, while knitting and wearing. We will work through all of the details you will need for this over the weekend and you will leave with a new approach to all your garments, giving you more control over the outcomes and better results. Improvements will be made immediately and with each repetition of the new system.

The focus of the weekend is improving our total knitting with a focus on garments this year!

- $700
- Price includes: lunches for each day, a sweet treat from Butter Pastry, and beverages including tea/coffee.

Today we got to see the finished project that Nicola Olsen knitted for her 👏🏽 VERY 👏🏽 FIRST 👏🏽 SWEATER! 😍

She’s brilliantly blended her favourite colours in possum merino brushtail yarns from with her very own handspun yarns. A true work of handmade art!

(We couldn’t identify the pattern used.)

We always LOVE seeing what our customers have made and celebrating their colour and fibre choices.

A little window into spinning yarn…
Experimenting with Teapot Yarns - Laura Robertson Copper spinning fibre, and keenly anticipating our next delivery of Amber Liz fibres soon to ply together with it and create a truly unique blend of colours!

Keep an eye out for more local fibres coming into the shop as they sell out fast, and are a delight to work with.

Have you ever joined our knitting group?

Our local knitters show up every Wednesday evening and order pizza, as well as every Saturday throughout the day for chats, cuppas, yarns, and treats.

Speaking of treats, we are huge fans of Corentin’s BUTTER - French Inspired New Zealand Patisserie as you can see!

There’s always something to learn when we come together, get inspired by each others projects, celebrate our finished ones, and share in the many passions and frustrations of our craft 😍🧶😉

We recently completed a knit-along with our knit night ladies of the Lento sweater also featured in this edition.
When leafing through the magazine, I loved stumbling on this beautiful gem, the Keseran Pasaran by Eri Shimizu.

For this one, she was inspired by a springtime meadow.
“I imagined a light, airy and delicate sweater like dandelion fluff”. (Laine 2021)

Wait til you read the translation of the beautifully named pattern:
A Kesaran Pasaran is a mysterious, white, fluffy ball of fuzz or plant-like down from Japanese folklore that is said to bring good luck and happiness to anyone who finds and keeps it.

Now, how could you not fall in love with a pattern named after botanical fluff-charms!
