✨ PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: NZTA Napier CSVC✨

When trucks arrive at the Napier Weigh Station, the lighting is ready before the driver even steps out.

This project demonstrates how a simple, intelligent lighting control strategy can improve safety, reduce energy consumption and minimise unnecessary lighting hours.

Here's how it works:

🌙 During low light levels, a CBU-COPD presence sensor detects approaching trucks entering the site and automatically illuminates the entry lighting.

⏱️ The lights remain on for a preset time after the last detected movement before automatically switching off, ensuring the site is only illuminated when required.

Meanwhile, operators still retain manual control of the pole lighting from the wall-mounted switches in the control room whenever needed.

It's a great example of how wireless lighting control doesn't have to be complicated. By combining occupancy sensing with daylight control, the site benefits from:

✅ Improved safety for NZ Police and truck drivers
✅ Reduced energy consumption
✅ Lower maintenance costs through fewer operating hours
✅ Flexible wireless control without complex infrastructure

✨ PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: Department of Veterans’ Affairs ✨

We're proud to showcase the recently completed Department of Veterans’ Affairs new office in Canberra, featuring a large-scale smart lighting control solution powered by Casambi.

Spanning approximately 14,000m² of office space across six levels and supporting more than 1,000 staff, this project demonstrates how wireless lighting control technology can simplify installation while delivering sophisticated building-wide control.

A standout feature of the project was the deployment of 267 EnOcean kinetic switches. Requiring no cabling and no batteries, these wireless energy-harvesting switches significantly reduced installation complexity while providing complete flexibility for switch placement and future space reconfiguration.

With 17 Casambi networks connected as one site, the entire building is unified into a single intelligent lighting control ecosystem, delivering seamless operation, enhanced flexibility, and simplified management across all six levels.

A great week in Auckland for Wayne and Colin, who took the opportunity to catch up and visit the impressive 137 Great North Road project.

It's always exciting to get off the screen, onto the site, and see a project taking shape firsthand. From plans and drawings to real-world progress, there's nothing quite like seeing innovative Casambi wireless lighting control solutions being brought to life.
