Meet the Artist:
Abbie Scott (IOStudio) at Chapter1 .

​We are so excited to welcome artist Abbie Scott from IOStudio to Chapter1 this weekend! And will feature throughout October.

​Abbie’s incredible work blends traditional stained glass techniques with modern sculptural form, often incorporating nostalgia, upcycling, reclaimed timber, light, and shadow to create dynamic, living pieces. Her practice is all about connection, and sharing art in spaces where people can truly enjoy it.

​Pop in, I can make you a coffee, walk the gallery, and immerse yourself in her work:

​📍 Where: Chapter1 Art Gallery (95 Orbell Street, Sydenham)
🗓️ Saturday: 10:00am – 4:00pm (Come meet Abbie in person on Saturday!)
🗓️ Sunday: 10:00am – 3:00pm

​A quick reminder: You do not need to be buying art to step through our doors. Visiting Chapter1 is about the experience, taking a moment out of your day to connect, pause, and enjoy. It’s Friday!! And what a week it has been.
​Welcome to October! September flew past in a absolute blur as Suitcase Stories wrapped up. It’s been so special seeing these incredible pieces head off to their new homes (though we still have a few remaining treasures looking for theirs!).

To be open with you all, the last few months took every bit of energy I had, and I needed a quick beat behind the scenes to catch my breath. But the quiet time is over—it’s time to get loud again! 📣 Next week, we’ll be making a special joint announcement with Koru Care and Nurse Maude Hospice to wrap and tie a bow on that truly wonderful event.

​Starting TOMORROW in the gallery:
We are thrilled to feature Abbie Scott, the artist behind IO Studio, taking center stage! Her exhibition is a stunning showcase of intricate detail combined with nostalgic warmth—one you definitely don't want to miss. 7

🗓️ November: A packed month featuring two brilliant exhibitions and two special Opening Nights! First, works from Chris Wilmott, Hayley Henderson, Zenobia Southcombe, and David Caines will grace our walls in a group exhibition, followed by Dark Ballad - Joe Clarke’s solo exhibition.
🎄 December: Get ready for The 22 Days of Christmas... (more details coming soon!).

No flash poster for this, as we are busy getting our two November exhibitions underway. SO.....while I am working on that, I have set the lovely Julia the task of finding artists and creatives for
"The 22 Days of Christmas" at Chapter1, with its theme, Discovering the Art of Gifting.

We are seeking a diverse range of unique, art inspired pieces to fill the gallery as Christmas gifts, from original art, limited prints, just prints, poster art, ornate gifts, art apparel for this special festive curated event running everyday from December 1st to 22nd.

Don’t be shy about sharing your art gifting ideas! We think out of the box here at Chapter1. Or tag someone you think should contact us!

Your work will be featured across our social media during December, and we will be hosting additional Twilight Evenings from 6pm to 8pm for exclusive after hours shopping with a festive drink in hand. (Think sip & shop). These evenings can be pre booked by the public online in November. So every opportunity is being taken to showcase and sell your art inspired talents.

The spots are limited, and we will be selecting from those who apply so reach out to us today for more information on how to be considered for the 22 Days of Christmas 🎄Discovering the Art of Gifting.

Suitcase Stories was all about the suitcase and how the artist made you feel about it. You were given the opportunity to view all the suitcases and cast your vote for People's Choice. And vote you did, and now we get to announce People's Choice and the artist who will also get a night for two at The Mayfair hotel. ELIZABETH ROSA your suitcase was voted by the public as Suitcase Stories - The Luggage of Legends People's Choice.

P.S.Elizabeth's suitcase has been checked out and the new owner sent us photo's of its new home and all the different ways to display it. ❤️

Tonight, after a busy day I went along with the Wedlake girls to the opening night of Roll Call 2.0, it was so nice to chill, relax and wander around, snap some photos, chat with now familiarity to artists whom only just over 6 months ago I had admired from afar. But tonight was all about Watch This Space and Roll Call 2.0. Congratulations on your fab event and opening night.
So EVERYONE if your out and about tomorrow or over the weekend please go and check it out at 123 Victoria St!

Everyone who came into the gallery and voted for Suitcase Stories - People's Choice went into the draw to win a Night for Two at The Mayfair Hotel here in Christchurch including a delicious breakfast. Suitcase Stories come and view this weekend 10am to 4pm, there are amazing suitcases that are waiting to connect with a new owner, so please come in and take a look, and while your there you can check out all the fab artwork on the walls.

Also, voting for will end at 4pm on Sunday, so to be in to win a Night for two at The Mayfair come in and vote for People's Choice to go in the draw.
